Apart from the racketeering profit making excesses of the energy companies, what hacks me off most the misleading language used by OfGEM. To the uninitiated an "increase in the energy price cap" may seem like a good thing. Instead, why doesn't OfGEM just say "The subsidy is less and bills go up"?
That’s a very good point re Ofgem, and I have heard the news channels almost overly stress that price cap does not translate into a maximum value for a consumer bill. That’s at least a step in the right direction towards simplifying the terms.

It's as misleading to the uninitiated as the "freeze on personal tax allowances" which should translate into "real terms reduction on personal tax allowances for most"

Pulled all the Labour haters in on SI with my Home Office thread 🤣🤣🤣.
If you’re gonna do a bit of fishing make sure you got the right bait 🤣🤣

Should translate into tax rise. As does freezing the higher rate.

As to the 'price cap'; yes a lot don't get that what is capped is the per unit charge, not the bill. Use more, pay more.

Its exactly that, what is a con is that whilst the KwH was dropped the standing charge went up, standing charge is dead money which goes straight into the profit of the energy companies bin.

According to them the last Tory government (in its various guises) were all secret lefties. Which is possibly the stupidest thing ever written on the internet.

Plenty of political experts on that thread, its outstanding :ROFLMAO:

I'll be honest and say what I know about politics you could write on the back of a postage stamp, I just voice my own thoughts and opinions.
