• Thank you very much | Diolch yn fawr

All at JackArmy.net would like to thank everyone who has played a part on this site over the past 25 years whether that is through writing, contributing, moderating, posting or just visting and reading.

Without any of you the work that has gone into the site would have been pointless and we will always be proud that we built, generated and managed a community that was such a big part of the Swansea City supporting life for so long.

It has been a pleasure to bring to you the site for so long but the time is now right to turn the lights out for the last time but we do it both with a heavy heart and a sense of pride driven by the so many messages received since we announced the closure.

The site will remain here for a period until we archive and mothball it for the last time later this summer but all aspects are in a read only format.

Thank you though for all the memories

    Phil Sumbler

If Wales are to have any hope then they have to beat Switzerland in their opener

Dont think they are good enough to beat Turkey, who are defensively very strong, and one of my dark horses.

In normal times, the support Turkey would have in Baku would also have been a huge factor, not sure how that will play out now

And of course it will already be over if they have to travel to Rome, needing a win against Italy

Im confident Italy have never lost competitively in Rome.

Elsewhere, with the nature of the tournament, you have to look at one of the main host nations as winning it

Unfortunately, with the Semis and Final in Wembley, that rightly leaves England as favorites

Again they dont lose often at Wembley, and should they win the group they may have to negotiate a tricky game in Rome against the runners up of the group concerning Portugal/France/Germany, but other than that it is Wembley all the way.

Spain and Italys squads are not ready to win this tournament

Belgium have to travel to two host countries in the group, Denmark and Russia, but they should be ok, its now or never for that squad really

France/Germany/Portugal may knock one another out of the competiton, directly or indirectly

Netherlands far too inconsistent to win it

Croatia squad may have one last run to the latter stages in them

Denmark join Turkey as main dark horses

Should be a cracker of a tournament anyway

I think Belgium are in a similar position to the
Netherlands golden generation team of the mid-70s when they reached 2 WC finals and you felt that it was now or never for them as they'd never previously had a better squad and you couldn't see them having a better one again. They lost to Germany in 74 and Argentina in 78 and then went downhill. They did get to another final in 2010 when they lost to Spain but they've never quite had a squad like that mid-70s one. With the players they've got at the moment, you can't see Belgium ever getting a better chance to win a major tournament.

They won the euros mind. In 1988. I wish we could go downhill that fast :D Van Basten, Rijkaard and Gullit.

That deep Turkish defence looks like its hiding a dodgy keeper to me. He kicks like Woodman. Needs a high press anytime the ball goes near him.

It's like the Alamo, except the Italians are not clinical enough in the penalty box. The Turks have had a couple of good breaks, though. I'd laugh my feckin socks off if they took the lead in the second half.
THEN we'd see some Cooperball!

Kudos to Robbie Savage for slagging off Boris live on the BBC at half time for presumably not mentioning Wales in his pre tournament remarks, and then reminding the fat cnut that England got knocked out by Iceland in the last one while Wales reached the semis. Nice one, Robbie!

Can’t see us scoring against this Turkish defence. Must win game tomorrow.

They are defending well….but they will set up differently against us….attacking a bit more, so that might create some space for us.

Strange offside decision from the corner. The ball wasn’t played forwards

I hope Stevie Cooper's watching this match. He won't be familiar with what he's seeing. It's called relentless, committed attacking football, Steve.

Italy looking v good, Switzerland must be bricking it. Oh dear.

He’s probably appreciating Turkey’s game plan.

Turkey bottled it and shot themselves in the foot for every goal, completely overawed by the occasion.

Dont think anything changes for their game against Wales, they were expecting to lose this and created a gameplan to stay in it for as long as possible.

They are going to be far more attacking, out of necessity now more than anything else.

Italy winning 2 out of 2 before playing Wales isnt the worst scenario.. providing Wales can get a win beforehand

Disagree. They were a strong defensive unit in the first half. Opened it up at the start of the second and Italy punished them. Should have kept it tight for another 20 minutes. Italy top team though.
