Sanches was talented, his positional play is up there with the very best, I was his only backer on the old site, He passed it to the side boards once, but Leon Britton done it twice in his last season with us, but I never rated experts or posters on here
Exactly. Lots of players "pass to the hoardings" because the receiver takes a step the "wrong" way. I've seen Grimes do it many times. Yet Sanches got crucified for it.

Let's be honest about it, he never wanted to be here, probably told to be here.

He didn't even get a fair run in the team, he only appeared 12 times and a few of them were from the bench, he hardly played but was the most criticised player I can remember, he got unfair stick

Quite a few people backed him up to the point of finding out that he was not very good in a white shirt. Leon may have passed it to the boards but he didn't cost us the the thick end of half a million pounds per game.

My opinion is he didn't have enough minutes on the pitch for a fair and reasonable conclusion

The Spanish officials are having a mare in tonight's game. The linos are all over the place and the ref's missed a stonewall penalty for Mbappe. His back leg was taken from behind, how did he not see that?

You probably were his only backer throughout, but his confidence was low on arrival and completely shot after a few appearances and should have been better prepared and protected.
I totally agree about the pass to the boards … as well as Leon there were dozens of similar examples in the PL.
Having Mesa as a mentor didn't help.
And he really didn't want to be here.

I think they've been refreshingly good actually - in not putting up with falling down. And it obviously wasn't a pen otherwise VAR would have overturned it.

I don't think VAR was used, was it? Is it used for penalty shouts?
The German caught his back leg first if you watch it in slomo, but they didn't mention that in the studio, it didn't suit their narrative - plucky 32 year old defender, last ditch tackle, studs brushed the ball, etc.
Yes, they did brush the ball, after he'd made contact with his back leg!
Anyway, it made feck all difference in the end.

Can Mbappe motor, or what? He was like a Ferrari going past a Co-op bread van.

What people don’t get about Sanches is that he’s old fashioned. People expect him to be a Figo or a Ronaldo, but he’s a battler that earns the right to play. When he wins that battle he’s up there with the very, very best. When he was with us he was a square peg, a fish out of water, and he didn’t have the stomach for it. I don’t blame him. He’s a top player.

He didn’t want to be here he virtually said as much in an interview last year.
Top professional that.
Fúck him.

The difference being that Grimes doing it is offset by the hundreds of good things he does for us and Leon's by the thousands of good things he did for us. Obviously Sanches didn't get many chances, but it's hard to think of anything good he did to offset the clangers.

I think it's fair to say he was an obviously very talented young footballer who was struggling with the move to Bayern and who probably needed a loan back to Portugal to get his confidence back. A loan to another new country (and if the culture shock of Portugal to Germany was tough for him, the UK was probably a big step in the wrong direction) and a pretty poor team at that time was, in hindsight, clearly not the right move for him. So he was shite for us, but obviously not a shite player. Good for him I guess, I have no emotional connection to him either way.

He should have given his best and acted like the professional he was supposed to be.
Prick.
