Yeah the Whittaker thing is strange.

I don’t want to call out an academy player but Cullen is showing no signs of improvement at present and doesn’t look anywhere near good enough for this level. Needs a loan.

Who else could we have played in front of Smith though? He did well when he came on against Fulham, not convinced at all on Walsh. Dan Williams maybe?

I enjoyed the first half today, should have gone in at half time at least a goal up.

What frustrates me is that we seem reluctant to have a strike at goal from outside the box.

This is it for me. Much the same against Hudds. We need to be a lot more aggressive around the penalty area. We seem to want to score "The Perfect Goal" a bit too much. There's nothing wrong with a first time cross, or a shot from outside the box.

I suspect things will improve when Ntcham, Obafemi and one or two others are back and fully fit which is why I'm not overly concerned at the moment. The building blocks are there. We just need to put them together a bit better. I do have issues with his persistence with Cullen when he's shown next to nothing to justify that faith whilst Whittaker is almost an afterthought.

Unfortunately for him, and maybe us (still don’t really know) he will run out of road constantly defending himself with patent bullshit. If he calls it how it is and is realistic, he is far more likely to get the same in return. I fear he’ll be “delighted” again tonight with one point against a side that offered nothing.

He’s saying this evening that there are players queuing up to join us in January which is interesting seeing as it’s the second day of October and players want to join us in January.
Why aren’t they currently happy playing for their current clubs?

Got to remember Martin wasn't long ago playing so knows a lot of players who have now dropped down the leagues or are older and without clubs or out of favour coming towards the end of a contracr. They'll all be messaging him saying they want to join so they can get a nice Championship 2-3 year contract under they're belts.

Add in the MK Don's players we can't afford and there's plenty that want to come in, whether they're good enough and we want them is a different story. If we keep signing cast offs and league one standard players then we will inevitably become a league one team.

The period up to November international break will define the Martin era. Hopefully we come out of it strong, but a win rate of 1 in 6 or whatever it has been the last 2 months, can't be accepted much longer imo

All 3 goals in the comeback against Luton were from outside the box so we've shown that we can do it but it seems it's only when we're desperate which makes very little sense. Piss about when it's 0-0, let fly when we're 3 down??

Bidwell for example had loads of chances to cross and turned them down more often than not, drove me nuts. Crosses into the box are not "direct", we need to score goals and by refusing to put the ball in the box against low block sides will not bring them. The one decent one he did put in he put it on a plate to Cullen who in my mind missed a complete sitter.

What we also don’t do enough of against compact defences is getting the ball to the goal line and cutting it back behind the defenders.
