Fans booing when the opposition has the ball

The West Stand all got up and applauded Ryan Giggs as he got subbed, he didn't play for us.. it's got to be the weirdest one of the lot
I can promise you at least two people in the West Stand didn't get up and applaud Giggs during any of our PL games against Man United. I don't remember everyone around me standing up and clapping him, but my memory is shit, so I'll take your word for it.

Um, no it ain't.

I've been watching football for 35 years and it's been happening for all of that time.

Have you been watching with the sound off or something? 😂
I've been watching football since 1976 when I was 6 years old and I do not recall any crowds doing that back then...it's just a load of bollox...no crowds in rugby do that during open play...

That's because rugby is an odd sport with weird customs and a totally different fan culture that is fast becoming a complete irrelevance. And certainly is of no relevance in a discussion about football fan culture.

...rugby is not an 'odd' sport in any way, and please enlighten me on its 'weird' customs, and please tell the 73000 people that watch rugby games at the Principality that their 'fan culture' is a 'complete irrelevance'...and opposition football fans complaining when they do not have the ball remain complete and total bellends.. Explain that oh mighty one!

We'll have to agree to disagree on the football bit. It's been a thing for decades.

As for rugby, my view is it's an overcomplicated, crap to watch minority sport that is slowly dying, especially in this country.

I've found over the years that its fans are quick to label football fans "hooligans", but are quite happy to sweep under the carpet rugby's clear and long established link to increased rates of domestic violence in Wales on rugby international days. England rugby fans still insist on singing a song at every match that celebrates slavery.

That's before you get onto the countless instances of people caught paralytic drunk and sleeping in their seats during Wales internationals, including an incident very recently where a drunk Wales fan was sick all over a child in the seat in front. All of this has been well covered in Wales Online.

In fairness...

It's shit.

Twats wearing daffodils hats, throwing up over kids, you spend most of the game standing up and siting back down after lettings idiots get past you so they can either take a piss or go to the bar.

Out of the 73,000 that seem to attend on the odd occasion there is only a fraction of that number who actually watch the game.

Give me a football match any day of the week or weekend.

And of that 73,000, about 730 of them turn up to watch their local club the following week. Proper rugby "supporters", them.

If I didn't know any better, I might go and say something like it's got nothing to do with the actual sport itself, it's just a very flimsy excuse for an almighty pissup a dozen or so times a year. But I wouldn't dare suggest such a thing, obviously.

They are a different breed, that's for sure.

Men and women seem to have an outer body experience when Wales are playing.

F*&king state of that lot.

No doubt they spent the rest of the evening drinking each other piss for shit and giggles because that what rugby lads do.
It's not a good look in fairness, pissed up rugby fans on every train back and forth the Capitol on matchday is acceptable apparently.
