We have had the female thread, what are your favourite male / singer songwriters?

Some of mine

Sufjan Stevens

Elliott Smith

Jason Lytle

Neil Young

BC Camplight

My 2 favourite male singers are Jim Morrison of The Doors and Darren Wharton of Dare who I'll be seeing live in Bristol in October. For those not familiar with the name, Wharton is former Thin Lizzy keyboard player who formed Dare in 1988. Here's one of their first videos. BTW, if you spot the keyboard player, it's Professor Brian Cox.

Will take this topic in a totally different direction and add George Micheal .

Done some great , upbeat pop songs with Andrew Ridgley whilst a part of Wham and also some good solo material .

Performed at the Freddie Mercury Tribute show covering Somebody to Love , the remaining Queen band members looked impressed at his performance .

Saw him twice, the first was excellent, the second not so much.

You can also add Freddie as he wrote a lot of the Queen stuff.

I believe , or read somewhere the four band members of Queen shared the songwriting royalties between themselves as agreed by Freddie , even though he was chief writer .

Most song writers in bands claim the performing rights and most of the royalty of their own material .
