Afternoon all! I just wanted to share an appreciation post and a quick summary of your two loanees.
First up—Lissah. My word… what a player. The biggest compliment I can give him is that he plays like someone already in his prime—calm, composed, and rarely making the kind of silly mistakes you might expect from a young player.
We’ve had some excellent loanees over the years (Schmeichel, Krul, Stokes) as well as standout academy graduates (Arfield, Kingsley, Murray Wallace, Jay Fulton), and for me, Lissah is right up there among the best young players I’ve seen. His future looks incredibly exciting, and it’ll be a joy to follow his career.
He arrived, I believe, as a centre-back, but he looks far more comfortable at right-back where he can really show off his attacking ability. His quieter performances have tended to come at centre-back, which is probably just down to inexperience.
Wilson might be a year or two away from being Swansea-ready, but he’s definitely got a bright future. He’s absolutely rapid and his work ethic is outstanding. Like many young wingers, his final ball can let him down at times, but that will improve with experience. I think he’s rounded the goalkeeper about four times since joining us—we just haven’t managed to score from it yet!
Both players are absolutely loved by the fans here, so hopefully we’ve earned your trust again next season with another batch of your top youth prospects. I genuinely believe this has been a great spell for Swansea and the players—just as much as it’s been for us.
All the best for the rest of your season!
