Financial challenges aplenty

Financial stability, better chance of sustainability, professionalism.

Financial stability? No expert but if it wasn’t for the academy graduates we have flogged and a few decent profits on transfer deals we would be at Bolton’s level already. As much as I can’t stand Jenkins he must take credit for that.

I don’t think I have one positive thing to say about the current owners

The reason we'd be like Bolton is that we spent too much money on what turned out to be mediocre players: Ayew (in the Premier), Bony, Clucas etc. You can't blame the Americans for not spending, the problem is that it was on the wrong players. Not that it's easy to buy a player that'll enhance a Premier league squad.

I’m not blaming the Americans for not spending. Your post actually backs up my point, they haven’t given us financial stability, the mismanagement has been disgraceful.

Jenkins and his cronies didn't want to be left holding the baby if the club was relegated. The financial impact would have been huge. They wanted out.

To pay all the players that didn't leave.

This.

Our recruitment strategy (if you could even call it that) was fùcking dreadful. Jenkins did a brilliant job up to the point when he sacked Laudrup.

Hindsight is a marvellous concept but most of us would be happier with us going down earlier and not having the impact of lazy recruitment and a wage bill that was out of control.

They saw their payday and took the cash from the first idiots who were dull enough to pay them for that.

"We'd never do anything that would jeopardise the future of the club" said the man who would go on to sign off fake board minutes and play real life championship manager between 2014 and 2018.
