It was only a few days into lockdown , he had no financial problems, he claimed diminished responsibility very quickly, if it was a couple in their 30 s he would probably have got life
Age shouldn't come into it, looks like people have had sympathy for him because of his age, it's wrong, just my opinion

The attack started in the bedroom, and continued downstairs (as reported on the news), so it seemed a prolonged act, not a momentary lapse.

I watched "Forensics: the real CSI" on BBC iPlayer yesterday episode 1 (only 2 there so far, but it's very good), and the team were desperate to prove pre meditation regarding the suspect who killed his wife and a woman next door. Defence teams must be able to plead diminished responsibility fairly easily, in the absence of absolute proof I imagine.

My wife knows a close relative of the deceased. I think that was quite a unique, awful and very sad case.

I don’t think the sentencing remarks have been released yet so it’s difficult to comment.

Having said this, it’s worrying that whenever there’s a perceived lenient sentence picked up by the press. The AG or Priti Patel come our and suggest it should be looked at.

I don’t think that should be part of the legal process. It’s just soundbites to look tough on crime.

There seems to be widespread outrage throughout the country over this, MP s asking for it to be looked at, and the action of the judge

Lots of people asking why is he smirking in his mugshot after he just strangled his wife in a vicious prolonged attack
