Franco

Seriously guys.he’s a player full of energy and enthusiasm, even with our improved performances I just can’t see how some people come to their valuations of him.

I’m glad he’s ours but no club is going to break the bank for that type of player…in my opinion of course.

Every player is a available at the right price.
I would say 25M is a bit too adventurous but certainly 10M plus is achievable and fair.

I would be happier to keep, if he was to go then the positives would be that we could replace and strengthen in other areas.
Thank feck you're not in charge of sales 🙄

Keeping him would be the right thing to do. I just can't see anyone offering more than 5m at this time.
Will he be in Championship team of the season? How many times has he been in the championship team of the week? He's a very good player but does he standout to other clubs as he does to us?
I think that's a good thing. Keep him under the radar. Players with far less talent than Franco go for a lot more money. I think the original point is that we've been (without wishing to sound like Donald Trump) fleeced by clubs in more recent seasons.

Spoken with some apparent "ITK's" (and heard others say similar), they reckon he is 100% off in the summer and there has been enquiries already.

Hope they are all wrong, but given his performances this year whilst settling I would not be surprised at all...
As others said every player has a price, but let's not kid ourselves. If it the case Sheehan is currently being offered a contract he will want reassurance that Franco and few others stay and not be sold. No manager would sign anything unless given that guarantee. Plus Franco is not the finished product. He needs to improve his passing game and his shots and he can be a great player.

No club could possibly give that guarantee. At least, certainly not one at our level.
I get where you are coming from but, it's happened before. Sheehan is in stronger position and he will want if anything reassurance that Franco and few others stay. I undertand clubs can come in at anytime, but you can't offer a job to someone and then pull rug under them. Yes it happens, but I just don't see it with us. Maybe that's me being naive, but the discussions will not be 1 sided.

There will be a bit of back and fore but Sheehan will undoubtedly be more aware of what's going on at the club behind the scenes than any of us. He'll know what we're in a position to offer him and decide whether or not to take it.

It's a reality of life for 99% of clubs out there that players have to be sold to balance the books, which is the main reason why I've never bought into the idea that previous managers were somehow "let down". They've all been around the game long enough to know how it works.

There's a difference between actively trying to sell a player to raise funds and saying he'll only leave if we get an offer considerably higher than our valuation.

The thing is that the new owners and Montague will know that Franco is a hugely integral part of our form since Sheehan came in and so does Sheehan himself. Its not about what is a fair price, the point is that we are in the position to demand an unfair price or the other club can fuck off.

We don't have owners who will sell for bargain basement prices looking to asset strip the club selling off everything of remotely sellable value (including the kitchenware). At least I hope we don't 👀

Looks like Sheehan negotiations could go into next week due to match tomorrow and he wants reassurance on Darling and few others. Again what I was saying about Franco. Anyone who thinks guarantees in some form won't be made are kidding them selves. This is out all chips on table now and negotiating. I'm not saying Darling will stay but I am confident that he will have reassurence on a few things. Remember this is not Coleman, this is more experienced and street wise people now in charge. On side note I hear that something bigger is to come out in future with the club and is being said to be bigger than Modric announcement.

Indeed the days of "not for sale at any price" don't exist anymore, even for the likes of Barcelona or Man City.

The club can however promise that they won't lowball him by trying to hawk off Franco to the lowest bidder just to raise some capital. If an offer comes in that the club deems is too good to turn down then its unfortunate but so be it, if someone came and asked about him and we said "25 million" and they stumped up that cash then not only would it be enough to cover operational losses for a whole year but enough to invest in two or three or maybe even more replacements with adequate recruitment.

However if the club ties to pawn him off on whoever will chuck a few million our way then its a bad deal for the club, the squad and for Sheehan. Clubs make big money because they don't sell their marketable assets at the first opportunity, they develop them more and more until they can demand peak prices - others will then pay that because if they don't another rival will.

Steve Evans coming in as assistant 🙈

Obviously if a ridiculous offer came in the business interest kicks in.

Which is the point. The club can tell Sheehan that we're not actively looking to sell him all they like, but if a big enough offer comes in then he's off. AS knows this as much as anyone else does. As in the Darling situation, what can the club possibly promise/reassure Sheehan on that? We've talked to HD about a new deal but could still easily be blown out of the water by someone else.
