Is the theory that we want to appear poorer than we are as we think it'll improve our negotiating position?

That's absolute madness talk!
Posters on a forum suggesting they know amounts but yet its been kept water tight in the football world.....its laughable and fantasy island stuff.

If Dick and Dom on a Swansea forum know the amounts then you can bet your bottom dollar that most clubs up and down the land will know.

Lets be atleast grown up with this shall we 🙈

Nobody outside of the club knows, why would they? But not all posters on a forum are said “Dick and Dom” as you say..

As I said, once the amount is revealed (and it will be shortly and as has been reported - a larger amount than Morris) - we can return to this discussion and you can explain to everyone how the first instalment from Russell Martins compensation (!?) stopped any deals.

Sound fair?

As you said, some growing up is very much on the cards and your constant need to spark negativity at the club is a growing concern.

Part of the LLC, or in an investment vehicle similar to Morris?

An investment directly into the club, not simply a share purchase as rumoured. This is a very positive season and people should be right behind what’s happening.

This carefully designed and constructed negativity is done for a reason and it’s to undermine the current management team due to their fondness for the old one.

Which is why you will see those calling for as much time as possible to be given to the old manager now ditching that philosophy and pouring negativity on the current set up before a ball has even been kicked competitively.

If it wasn’t so transparent it would be funny.

I was no huge fan of Martin but you must understand why some people are skeptical about the investment?

Coleman's said publicly several times that he has invested but there is no concrete evidence yet that it is into the club.

Totally agree there, we had the issue when Cooper went and it was straight in on Martin as the fallout.

Hopefully fans get behind Duff, time and patience is given as it was with Martin as Duff is going to create a new process exactly as Martin had to.

Consistency is the key from day one.

Nothing to be skeptical of. Coleman is correct in what he says, patience is key for that to reveal itself.

The club are doing right by the fans so far, millions spent, more in the works and making ambitious moves throughout, there is no reason for any skepticism.

We now have a well respected sporting director who left PL bound Luton to come here. This season is an exciting one that is attracting people from elsewhere, not just from Swansea itself.

Criticism is perfectly valid when warranted. The majority of Russ’ tenure was very poor, it was only the last 10 games or so where we saw a marked improvement and that was when he moved away from the style he tried to persist with for so long… too long.

What we don’t want however is people trying to bring the management team down after 0 minutes of competitive football and a squad that is being rebuilt from the square pegs in round holes style of previous years.

We can assess where we are after a couple of months of the season where valid comments (both positive and negative can be sensibly discussed), not in July.

I'll reserve my excitement for when these things actually materialise then. Watson certainly has a great record.

But as it stands, our squad is weaker than last season (will get weaker if/when Piroe goes) and the division is stronger. I don't think anyone can argue with that. That's where my lack of excitement emanates from.

Are we weaker? We have less numbers but are we actually weaker?

I have read a lot about numbers going out but nobody is really assessing the departing players.

I would say Manning is the only departed player that anyone would want in the starting XI come first game of the season.

Yet we have Yates, Ginnelly and Key come in.

People are counting the likes of Sondergard and Joseph as departing players when they wouldn’t have been in the plans anyway.

Pretty good post and a good discussion point, squad is certainly weaker again as it has done season on season since we got relegated.
I feel if Piroe goes at the right time for us then squad will be quite strong come September the 2nd........albeit possibly a big hole to fill up top but we could have 2 players in fighting to take that mantle alongside Yates.

Yes certainly weaker without Manning. Key is completely unproven at this level (albeit promising) as is Ginnelly. We at least knew for certain that Whittaker had something about him. Yates looks decent but jury's out on whether he's better than the half / half double act of Obafemi/Cullen last season.

So yes on balance we are currently weaker especially with the injuries the squad has.

So Manning is the only reason you think we are weaker?

Key and Ginnelly being unproven at this level doesn’t mean it’s a negative. Piroe was unproven when we signed him too, they are clearly very good players and their performances show that.

We didn’t have Obafemi for most of last season either and there aren’t many who would want him back. Yates is a better acquisition than Obafemi for more than one reason.

We have lost next to nobody who many would want to feature in the line up this season, Manning and Lati (at a stretch).

Yet gained 3 players who everyone would want to start, fitness permitting.

For me, that’s 1 out and 3 in, with more to come.

But as has been said Daps and Chief, why is it ‘certainly weaker’? Manning, Beaudy, Whittaker and the other guy who never played a game, for Ginelly, Yates and Key, and an obvious determination to ditch the fish for a proper goalkeeper. I don’t see that as ‘certainly weaker’ at all tbh. Plus we might have a proper manager instead of a low achieving bullshitter. We obviously don’t know the first part of that sentence yet, but the people jumping on him after Oxford is laughable. Who was the manager when we lost to port talbot in a friendly?. Or, then again, who was the manager when we lost to Oxford last season in the cup in a proper competitive match…

We are building ok at the moment. Let the season rock and roll.
