We've spent 3million on 2 loan players who'll only be with us a year!?

And unless 1 of them is Lewis (which I doubt considering his wages and the competition rumoured) we still don't have a fit left back.

That worries me if true. Thought we were moving away from the prestige loan thing?

Still hoping that the left back position will be filled by Buchanan on a loan with an option to buy.

But as has been said Daps and Chief, why is it ‘certainly weaker’? Manning, Beaudy, Whittaker and the other guy who never played a game, for Ginelly, Yates and Key, and an obvious determination to ditch the fish for a proper goalkeeper. I don’t see that as ‘certainly weaker’ at all tbh. Plus we might have a proper manager instead of a low achieving bullshitter. We obviously don’t know the first part of that sentence yet, but the people jumping on him after Oxford is laughable. Who was the manager when we lost to port talbot in a friendly?. Or, then again, who was the manager when we lost to Oxford last season in the cup in a proper competitive match…

We are building ok at the moment. Let the season rock and roll.

It's a hard one to call presently regards the squad but each will have their own view/opinion without knowing the fact until we are a few games into the season to judge.
Out is Manning, Sorinola, Joel Lat, Cundle....players who played over 30 games and contributed to the squad, aside from Yates we are unable to judge how the other 2 will take to championship life(hopefully like ducks to water).

I envisage a tougher season, coupled with a new process that will take time and patience along with stronger teams both financially and support.

It's going to be interesting but patience is certainly something that we all need to be.

So Manning is the only reason you think we are weaker?

Key and Ginnelly being unproven at this level doesn’t mean it’s a negative. Piroe was unproven when we signed him too, they are clearly very good players and their performances show that.

We didn’t have Obafemi for most of last season either and there aren’t many who would want him back. Yates is a better acquisition than Obafemi for more than one reason.

We have lost next to nobody who many would want to feature in the line up this season, Manning and Lati (at a stretch).

Yet gained 3 players who everyone would want to start, fitness permitting.

For me, that’s 1 out and 3 in, with more to come.

Manning for certain and the others we can't say at this point with any real conviction that the others are stronger than their replacements.

I wasn't Lati's biggest fan but he was a senior player so our depth is lacking too.

So on balance, as I say we're weaker. With our top scorer heavily tipped to leave also.

My viewpoint will change if / when more players come in, just hope not too many more leave.

My viewpoint isn't an indictment on Duff at all, I think it's a very good appointment and I don't care about the friendlies. The only thing to come out of them was to reaffirm the need to get a new goalkeeper.

I don’t believe we are particularly weaker. We have less depth but that’s always the case when you clear out the dead wood, no point in having players in the squad that don’t play and taking up a wage.

Cundle, Sorinola and co playing 30 games isn’t really a ringing endorsement for them, we spent the majority of the last 2 seasons in the bottom half of the league.

The question is would anyone want them back for a starting spot this season, the answer, I assume, would be “no thanks” from most.

We are only in July, depth will come with time. We know a new keeper and a left back are close, which will fill further gaps. The squad is being built currently, it’s not the finished article.

Piroe we all know is likely going to have to be sold, so that’s the only challenge I see. Hard to replace someone like that who kept Russ and his process afloat for nigh on two seasons running.

Not an easy one to replace and don’t think that is lost on anyone; but that’s largely out of anyone’s hands, he's openly said he won’t sign a new contract, similar to Manning.

I'd definitely have Cundle back

Just read this thread very enjoyable.

Reminded me of a classic match day thread when we are 2.0 down half time and come back and win 3.2.
The reaction after the friendly has been OTT even by Planet Swans standards.

Some very interesting stuff on there but the negativity shown in July is harmful to the club.
As it spreads and Duff is on the backfoot before the season has even started.

No need for it all and if I was a moderator would look at suspending accounts temporarily at least.

These are exciting times for sure and the club needs to be given a chance.

Suspending accounts for people voicing an opinion! Oh my days

Of its harmful to the club and clearly rubbish yes.

Some don't post it as opinions they post it as fact as if they are in the know

When it is just made up bollox to stir it all up

Personally I take the "ITK" posters with a pinch of salt, if Michael Duff and any of his backroom staff ventured over to this site I'm sure they would probably do the same.

Perhaps I read your post differently but you were calling out negativity on matchday threads, that why I commented on you account suspension slant...

No I just compared the thread to a match day thread when we are losing at the beginning and win at the end.
But yes my point stands if people make up negative stuff that's harmful to the club and post it as fact that needs looking at.
