It seems like the summer long uncertainty around Joel Piroe’s future at Swansea City is coming to a close as Leeds United look set to sign the striker. It comes days after news came out that Piroe was on the verge of agreeing a new contract at the club which would have seen him remain […]

So long as the deal includes a healthy amount of addons and a good sell on clause then I would be happy.
I would hate to see him leave but right now the current formation isn't suiting him as he thrives on the ball to feet.
I hear £12m I just hope that is not including addons, £3m extra if promoted during his contract and a 20-30% sell on clause would sound right in my books.

Maybe the new contract chatter had the desired effect and finally led to a concrete bid? Only better outcome would be Martin getting Southampton involved and driving the price up, but don't think that's going to happen.

Twitter reports there is as big a sell on clause for Piroe as there is for Wood.

If you believe everything you read then they valued Joel at £8-10m yesterday. Stories this morning about Southampton's joint bid. Suddenly the bid is £12m.

Wouldn’t surprise me though, we had a cheap deal and he was young with a pretty hyped up background despite his lack of experience.

Not sure if anyone has mentioned, but when Bamford is fit, then is Piroe gonna play? Doubt he'll be first choice.

He'll come on after half an hour when Bamford gets injured again.

My understanding would be that when buying a player the selling club would have two options on the table, x amount fee up front with a larger sell on clause, or smaller fee up front, with a bigger sell on clause ...

Its the most common negotiating tactic these days indeed.

Piroe's transfer was rumoured to be £1m, under us he has made 96 appearances scoring 46 goals and making 8 assists (just over 0.56 goal contributions per game). His career stats before joining us stood at 150 appearances, 62 goals and 20 assists (0.55 goal contributions per game), however many of those came in the Eindhoven youth setup. His senior stats stood at 34 appearances, 5 goals and 0 assists (0.15 goal contributions per game).

It could be argued that £1m for a very much untested and so far unsuccessful at senior level 21 year old player was more than just a bit of a punt. There is every expectation that there is a sell on fee, however similarly there is also every reason to expect that its nowhere near the reported 35% of Wood's. I would expect something in the region of 15% personally which would still represent for PSV an extra windfall of £1.8m (almost tripling what they got initially for him).

Nearly 4 million euros was the figure from a Dutch journalist that was posted on Reddit.

Looks like PSV will make 4m euros total including his initial price so I guess it's probably 15-20%. Bit more palatable!
