Gylfi is in a weird spot at the moment, many teams would jump on the chance to snap up a player of his calibre for free under normal circumstances.

However there is a huge air of uncertainty with him over the allegations which have been under investigation for a remarkably long time. Clubs would be hugely wary of backlash from fans and sponsors if they tried to sign him anyway before this is all concluded.

Gylfi will be 33 in September. Unless he can somehow come out of all this smelling of roses instead of a permanent 'no smoke without fire' tag, he may have played his last game at the top level. Could possibly see him having one last pay day in China but I wouldn't expect to see him again in this country now. Even if he's found innocent, he's tarnished goods here.

At 33 it's hard not to believe his career is already over. Like Ched Evans, even if he does come back, he'll only be a shadow of his former self. Unlike Ched he doesn't need the money, and it's hard to see it being worth the agro.

I've had numerous clients who have been 'released under investigation ' for years with no return date, police will contact you when they're ready. if he does get charged, any trial is likely not to be before towards the end of next year and that is if he is charge with the next month or so. No club will go anywhere near until this is cleared up and if he is guilty he's finished.

It's awful to have that hanging over you for so long, whatever the circumstances. He, and your clients, must dread what any day might bring. If he's guilty, could argue he deserves it, but not if he's innocent. So therefore, nobody deserves it, as everyone is innocent until proven guilty. The wait has already basically killed his premium career.
