• Thank you very much | Diolch yn fawr

All at JackArmy.net would like to thank everyone who has played a part on this site over the past 25 years whether that is through writing, contributing, moderating, posting or just visting and reading.

Without any of you the work that has gone into the site would have been pointless and we will always be proud that we built, generated and managed a community that was such a big part of the Swansea City supporting life for so long.

It has been a pleasure to bring to you the site for so long but the time is now right to turn the lights out for the last time but we do it both with a heavy heart and a sense of pride driven by the so many messages received since we announced the closure.

The site will remain here for a period until we archive and mothball it for the last time later this summer but all aspects are in a read only format.

Thank you though for all the memories

    Phil Sumbler
    Owner, jackarmy.net

At least the Harlan Perry situation is being aired in forums and social media and no excuse can be given by the club that they weren't aware of the player's situation.

Football clubs often don't have the first idea about the contractual status of players they've spent years developing until people who had previously never heard of them point it out thanks to panicky social media posts.

Perry hasn't got a professional contract.
He is turning 18 soon which from this point he can sign a pro contract.
There are options to sign pro at 17 but certain restrictions are in place which prevents many being capable to do so at that age.

Swansea will be well aware of the situation, unfortunately at that age the power is with the agents and players.

Its a life changing decision so loyalty tends to go out the window, let's be fair though, loyalty very rarely exists in the game anymore.

It’s hardly a “panicky” post to point out we could potentially loose a gem in the making, good youngster.
I always appreciate input from those who follow our youth set ups.

The posts on social media are normally instigated by agents. The agent will be trying to scare the club into making him a good offer with his 18th birthday fast approaching or drum up some interest in him from other clubs.
It's all part of the game, unfortunately for us in this instance.

Matos has specific experience in developing players to be integrated into 1st team squads. That's exactly what he did at Liverpool.
Hopefully he & the club will be on the same page about expanding the pathway for academy & youth players into our 1st team.
I'd love to see us move away from taking random PL kids on loan just for the sake of it.

I wouldn't be surprised if there was at least some element in that line of thinking.
Especially considering the new owners have gone on record saying they want to restore cat 1 status to our academy

A gem based on what exactly? Hes 17 nobody has ever seen him their just basing it on the clubs hes been "linked" with.

Wasn't Govea and Parker linked with the likes of Leipzig/Juve last year? It means nothing, 99% of it is agent drivel. And if he does go it will be because they offered him a very good wage not because they have a better pathway.

It is a panicky post when the insinuation is that the club wouldn't have known about his contract situation unless someone on Twitter had pointed it out.

Note the word “potentially”

Who the hell thought signing him was a good idea ffs ?
You really have to question the lack of football intelligence behind it.
Makes me laugh - just returned from a really bad injury and played for 10 minutes in a dysfunctional tactical set up.
Even for this forum that is a special take.
I wonder what the concensus was on Guehi after his first 10 minutes??
Bugger me

Agreed, personally it was good to see him back on the pitch

I get your point about Saturday.

As a youngster at the club like Filip Lissah as an example, would you sign a contract at the when you see them making signings like Santos?

Personally I’d rather be giving game time and experience to our youth team players.

Until now I don’t see a pathway in to the first team for them.

Hopefully that changes with the new manager.

Given it’s the second time this particular youngster has been ‘linked’ with ‘huge’ interest from Man Utd / Man City I’d have thought it was obvious that he / his agent are extremely interested in drumming up interest from anywhere that isn’t us. If he has his sights set on elsewhere there’s little we can do.

If Matos selects him regularly, I’ll bow to your judgment.
I’ll make a note of today’s date, and reflect on it later in the season.
