• Thank you very much | Diolch yn fawr

All at JackArmy.net would like to thank everyone who has played a part on this site over the past 25 years whether that is through writing, contributing, moderating, posting or just visting and reading.

Without any of you the work that has gone into the site would have been pointless and we will always be proud that we built, generated and managed a community that was such a big part of the Swansea City supporting life for so long.

It has been a pleasure to bring to you the site for so long but the time is now right to turn the lights out for the last time but we do it both with a heavy heart and a sense of pride driven by the so many messages received since we announced the closure.

The site will remain here for a period until we archive and mothball it for the last time later this summer but all aspects are in a read only format.

Thank you though for all the memories

    Phil Sumbler

We have been told that when Franco lost his youth scholarship at Porto, it was Rio Ave that took him under their wing as a youngster. The development opportunity that Rio Ave gave Franco has stayed with him, especially when he had no other options. That time at the Big River came at such an opportunistic time, it led to a move to Leixões S.C. and that was the platform for Franco to pursue a career in professional football. His time at Leixões led to senior first team appearances which Moreirense were on to quickly. The rest as they say is history, but Franco hasn’t forgotten Rio Ave.

His agents managed to get the friendly linked in to his transfer, nothing unusual there it happens a lot, but fair play to Franco. He seems a player with morals and clearly very grateful to the club which catapulted him in to professional football.

This impressed me to be honest, many might pay lip service to the clubs that helped them get their break but he asked his agent to stipulate a friendly against them as part of signing with us

He never played for that side?

No but they are the club who gave him a scholarship after Porto cut him loose and it was while progressing through their youth setup that he was snapped up by Leixoes.

He was only there two minutes, you’d have thought if he was going to do that he’d have arranged it with Leixoes.
