I read this earlier, I’ve been to a few on the list and a few better ones that are not. The Black Boy always ranks high and besides the olde-worldly feel it’s nothing to write home about, and their food goes right through me. Tafarn Sinc is another - a favourite with the Welsh media but not up to much. I like the one in Kenfig and the one just outside Monmouth.

White Eagle in Rhoscolyn and The Ship in Red Wharf Bay are both better options than the Bull in Beaumaris for Anglesey

If you are making the dreaded journey of the A470/A483 then the Nag's Head in Garthmyl between Newtown and Welshpool is a good stop for excellent food at a decent price.
