Huw Jenkins outlines Newport County takeover plan ...

100% John.

He made some big mistakes, but he and number of others saved this club and gave many of us the best moments following the Swans.

Like the Martinez knockers they just look at the messy divorce and not the amazing times.

But I suppose that’s a mentality difference. If you want to be a miserable sod then you’ll find the negative.

Well ‘he’ didn’t take over it was a group of people some who he eventually f*cked over, plus he was chairman of another football club at the time of Petty.

If you can’t see he did more than good than bad then I give up.

I grew up with lower league football, I dreamed of championship football nevermind premier league and Europe!

That period was something I’ll cherish and I remember those days when we barely had a penny to rub together and 3k crowds.

Some of you guys are like bitter ex girlfriends on so many things. It’s weird.

I so wish we still had local owners but I’m not going to forget the good times. They were glory days

This.

And we were going to seen tumble down the leagues with Huw and our old local owners… they simply couldn’t sustain the financial clout needed … we were already on a downward spiral before they sold.

Precisely. That old model is unsustainable in this new World. I don’t like that fact. But it is a fact.

I think the point is he and others were more than entitled to do so, the way they did it was what rubbed everyone up the wrong way. To then stay around and draw a salary was just taking the pîss.

They absolutely did more good than bad, but his god awful transfer policy post Laudrup is still a millstone around our neck.

I think the days of the club picking up cheap players from the continent were over… the style of football had changed under Monk and I think Jenkins was keen to save us under any circumstance… in hindsight we would have been better not spending obscene money on average players and rebuild in the championship without the financial burden…

… but the longer you stay and in the top league the more inevitably you’re going to need to spend and you progress.

Spot on hindsight is indeed 2020 but the fact of the matter is hubris was Jenkins' downfall. He was in no way suited to be a DoF.

Such is life, we move on 👍

Happy to agree that Huw Jenkins was our best ever Chairman, but will never ever forgive Martinez, good times or not. If that makes me a miserable sod in your eyes, then so be it.

Absolutely.
Jenkins was a businessman who, with others, saw an opportunity and took a punt that came off, yes he did some good things and some very bad, hence the crap we're in now, so, fuk him.
Now if its a real hero we are wanting to praise, look no further than a certain Mr M Nurse 💪💥

Good grief  even now. Jilted lovers

When he took over we were in division 4.

8 seasons in the Ptemier League our first major trophy trips to Valencia and Napoli.

Now we are in our 6th season in the Championship.
Not to bad if you ask me.

Who gives a toss what Martinez or Jenkins did I don't need to let it go.

The very Mel Nurse who offered his shares, gratis to the trust and the others used the "non existent" shareholders agreement to get their share of the pie

Let's also not forget that Jenkins and co made up fake board minutes during the selling process too, so yes whilst he was brilliant during his pomp, let's not forget what they did and why we are where we are.
