So if England are going to win the Test, Root is going to have to do everything himself basically?

I forgot to put it on this morning and now discover that Root has a Michelle.

WTF?

Someone needs to tell Bairstow to practice running back and for with plastic bottles.

Just woken up from my night-shift to see this, Root 5/8!

Bonkers.

Any lead over 100 will be gold dust for England, but even that is a long way off

Will add, this wicket is a disgrace, you can talk about lack of technique all you want, but this wicket is virtually unplayable.

Spot on. If Underwood/Emburey and Phil Edmonds still alive....fly em out with Monty Panesar FFS.
Same ground next test. Hell of a shout to pick Jimmy and Broad

Agree with you both.

England are playing this wicket badly no doubt. But if it was just about the England players not adapting to the conditions, how do we explain India being bowled out so cheaply as well?

This Test and the last one are farces partly because these are not Test quality wickets. Obviously the home team prepares a wicket to try and maximise their chances, England do that as much as anyone. But at what point has it gone too far?

A 2-day Test, which this is likely to be at this rate, is just not good enough.

You win the toss and bat first, there's no way you should lose a Test match in 2 days!

If this was local league south Wales association,😉 India would be docked points for this wicket!!!

Lack of homework on the wicket then playing 3 frontline seamers. Mind boggling.

Broad and Anderson might as well have a thrash now, trying to play defensively will end badly on this wicket, but half hour of trying to put bat to ball and perhaps adding another 40 or 50 runs could just be enough?
Long shot either way though

Broad needs to rough up the pitch while batting now and give our bowlers an even better chance.

Agreed, but equally should a day 2 wicket be offering this much spin?

Ashwin is great no doubt (400 wickets in 77 tests!), but a part-time bowler like Root took 5 for 8 runs on the second day when his previous best in Tests was 4 for 87. Patel's 6 for 38 in the first innings was his best bowling at any level of cricket in his whole career!
