you think hes resigned?

Wouldn't blame him if he did, he was clearly sold a dream at the start of the month.

This month he’s signed a fantastic RB on loan, potentially who we can keep next season, a left back, a highly rated midfielder from the bundasliga who he was purring over and his choice of keeper.

We may be short in one or two areas but let’s not spread a narrative that the board have somehow totally failed to back him

What we are seeing now is why Cooper left. Lets not forget that. (Obligatory fk him )
Martins job is to cobble a team together, mainly using players from L1 and L2, that can fly in the championship. Luton did it, Coventry did it. Suck it up.

In the article below I referenced that we have to look at spending over the course of a season and not a few weeks just in the middle- we spent big in the summer on the likes of Downes and Piroe.

The worry for me becomes this coming summer as we dont have many crown jewels to finance any spending what happens then?

Agreed.... I said in another thread last night that it definitely feels like the future of diminishing returns. Pressure on russ is massive now or it could be the slippery slope.

This is true and we also know that is why Cooper wanted out - he didn't have the faith in himself with the budgets we had compared to the rebuild that was needed

We did it well enough twice before. Harder now for sure.

Silly question but what do you think our future holds Phil?

I wish I had a crystal ball on that one! On the face of it the players incoming instinctively feel they have strengthened the squad which is the main aim but we have survived for a few years on the big sale of quality players.

WHen the summer comes around it is difficult to know where the money will come from (unless that goes back to the Trust thread about creating a deal to end legal action that will mean more loans coming in) without the sale of Piroe/Grimes/Downes. Selling players for big money and building the squad with quality is not a bad scenario to work with but you have to be good at it. We used to be, since about 2015/2016 we haven't been.

I fear we have seasons in the bottom half of the Championship at best which in itself is no bad thing but a fall to League One does worry me in the next couple of years

If anyone thinks Matt O’Reilly was going to come here when Celtic were interested they’re living in cloud cuckoo land.

Just £300k up front and a player willing to accept less from us than Celtic were willing to offer him suggests it was definitely a deal that could have been done. It should have been done actually.

I'd be gutted and hugely frustrated if I was RM right now.

Thanks Phil, I share your concerns.
