Is Luke Williams time up at Swansea City - will Baggies links be the end?

He is dead man walking. He has lost the fan base. Granted not everyone was a fan of his. But I had some faith. That's gone. You couldn't write it. On Saturday against West Brom, it will be the eve of his Appointment at Swansea. Could we be looking at him leaving on the day he was put in charge on Sunday 5th January? Exactly 1 year later? Not sure if it's written in the stars, fate or his big mouth. I have been a supporter for Williams but for me there is no coming back. It's one thing keeping your options open in your head or behind closed doors, even though that's not something I like, we have to be real about this. But to publicly display such disregard it's clear the players down tools yesterday. I want Swansea to win on Saturday. But if they win, will West Brom be buffered by this? If he loses will Swansea crank pressure. Either way he is dead man walking. Some advise Luke, never turn to your boss and publicly tell them you might want to change jobs in any form. It doesn't matter if he visited your house to hire you. What an idiot. And this is from a Williams Supporter. As they say, be careful what you wish for.

So let's assume he goes one way or another.

The way the club is at the moment and the way the dressing room - especially Grimes - seems to call the shots, we can look forward to only one of two scenarios:

1. A screeching handbrake turn to another Mike Duff-type, cue Grimes and his dressing room cabal downing tools and putting us at risk of relegation because the applecart has been upset.

2. A facsimile continuity appointment in the Martin/Williams vein that will pander to the dressing room and will simply entrench the happy clappy, 'kumbaya' low standards we've come to expect, where everyone's best mates and the aim is to get the most possession, not win football matches.

The dressing room needs clearing out. It's toxic. It's got very little to do with any coach.
This is what will happen if he goes. Alan Sheehan will be put back in temp charge. He did get something out of them before Williams and was thought to be liked by the squad. But hell don't they all say that at the start. Funny how a few days can change fans views. If we win on Saturday it won't change my opinion. He has hedge his bets, and never openly play chess or in his case drafts with the fan base. I just hope he goes now and we get someone who has some consistency. Yes we might find ourselves not fixed, as players need clearing out as well. Fulton, Christie, etc. But it's a start. You don't win 2 ganes the way we did then lose 4-0. Something is up. And Darlings announcement, on the same day. Something is up.

I'd be surprised if he's even in charge of ue for Saturday.

And being a wuss he will probably sit it out for WBA too.

It's obviously far enough down the line - like it was with us when he was at Notts - for him to feel comfortable to disregard us

One way or another, I think his time is up.

His response to these WBA links has been crazy IMO. Naive at best. Not sure what he's thinking.

If he doesn't go to WBA, he's toast here. I don't think the majority of fans will accept this, especially with form and performances so patchy. Say what you want about Russ but he hardly put a foot wrong PR wise which is why our fans were happy to put up with bad performances. LW is nowhere near that level and a few bad results and I think the knives will well and truly be out for him.
Russell had his bad PR moments ie calling out the owners and players. But agree with the rest. No turning back. Fans have turned. The question is does he go being pushed or openly via compensation? I have a horrid feeling he won't go. Andy Coleman hired him and as the story goes went to his house 🤣. If he is the shrewd business man, then he has to separate so called friendship and business. The club is more about 1 person and that is not Williams.

Most fans lapped up him calling out the owners and it basically bought him a free pass for the couple of months of crap that followed.

I don't know why Williams couldn't have just said he wasn't interested, even if his agent was working away in the background trying to engineer a move.

Swansea Independent just posted a spot on article about all of this. Stating Williams actions has had a knock on effect on Darlings decisions. The point is, if Williams stays he has shot himself in the foot with the club, fans and potential players staying. He cannot be this stupid can he? Clearly Williams is.

I've browsed a WBA forum and taken a brief trip into twitterland, and quite a few baggies fans are less than impressed with his media comments on this topic as well, many saying they wouldn't want someone who acts like that as their manager. He's burning bridges in all directions.

I don't buy in to the notion this has had any impact on Darling at all.

The lad is in for a huge pay day by leaving on a free, it's always been more than likely he's going to leave.

Funny thing is, with him doing the same in his last job when linked to us it's groundhog day. With his Appointment 1 year this Sunday. Imagine if you was doing this in a 9 to 5 job. Granted this is not the same but still. It's one thing going on Indeed and doing a secret job search, it's another thing to announce to your boss you are open for a new job. Clueless Williams.

Yeah I agree to some extent. I always felt Darling was going or looking for better. But even if Darling was tempted to stay, he won't now. If Williams is still here. Unless we get the high profile manager that the share holders are looking for.

Would you trust Williams if you was a player now?

Darling doesn't care who the manager is, he cares about what goes in to his bank account at the end of every month.

100%. I get that. But Williams situation isn't helping. Either way. Even if he was half on board. I get it's about money. But alot is forgotten in emotions. Yesterday was prime example of how they felt and showed it. I can only speak for myself but if you're boss is not motivated. I'm not.

Darling made his decision to see out his contract well before any of this nonsense started.

If a professional footballer can't get motivated to play for the club that is paying his wages, we are better off without them.

The fact that we are even discussing whether LW's comments has any impact on Harry Darling is damning enough. He has left himself wide open to criticism.
