• We have today (22nd April) confirmed the closure of JackArmy.net on 31st May. Our reasons are varied but after a twenty-five year stint at the heart of the online Swansea City community, the time is right for us to bow out.

And just when Kaplan and Levien had vacated the stage exit left to be replaced by owners who, at least on the face of it, have some passion, commitment and drive for the club to become successful again.

To me, as I’m sure it is for everyone else, this is truly a sad end to such a wonderful forum and website.

Everything about it just oozes class, from the man himself who has pulled out a Herculean effort to run the show for 25 years, to the many and varied posters who grace the boards on here.

As for my sentiments on this wonderful place that we call home, which is looking like we won’t be able to refer to as such, come the end of the month, I can think of only one song that will sum them up:

It’s been Shakespearean.

SeaJack, the king of the belated upvote😉😆🥰

Well lads ( plus London Lisa), i don't come on yur as much as I used to and it is very simple for me to state that I will just miss you all. This place has been a haven for me to return to whatever has been going on in my life. When I first joined back in 2013 I was going through the trial and mental anguish of separation fand subsequent divorce rom my wife.

Now, all these years later I have returned on countless occasions and have always left just slightly better off emotionally. Though we all conform in one way in that we all love the mighty Swans, we are all so different in our fascinating and entertaining ways. I shall be on here now most days until the end of May. I

Is there a end of site party planedd in some JackArmy pub in Swansea like the Masons in Waunarlwydd, or the Builders in Sandfields? If the latter then the new landlord is called Keith. It would be good to meet some of you in person. I have yet to meet anyone in person, not even Darren.( I'll get to one of your ET/ UFO nights in Gorseinon some time Dar I promise). Please PM me if there is anything remotely organised planned. I have yet to wade through all 17 pages of dialogue in this thread.

It is the end of an era and I might even have to rejoin the other site to het my dosge of occasional Swansea City info and banter. Phil is amazing.I am linked tom him on Facebook so will send him my regards on there, but Iwill stae that his levels of generosity in terms of personal time and committment in keeping this place going whilst doing all his other Swans stuff and whilst holding down his job and family concerns is breathtaking. Ta Phil,

As to which posters I liked through the years I guess Dickjy Thorpe does stand out for me. Pity he os no longer a contributor.

Andrew Colwill still sells garage doors. He is also a club sponsor obviously.

Regards fellers

Missed you Bryn. Hope everything turns out well for you.
Keep your eyes open on here in case anything is arranged for a get together. 🤞

My garage door is looking great. It was on your recommendation that I got it from Colwill’s. ❤️

I moved house in Jan 24 to a new place a couple of miles from the old house, this time in Orpington. It has the added bonus of an electric garage door, but given the stick poor old Bryn used to get I kept it quiet from all you b*ggers!

I will miss this place, I've had some right belly laughs from some of the banter on here!

While we post about people we’ve met through the forum or just exchange posting.

It reminded me of a game the 3 of us came down to the Liberty against Hartlepool in the early years at the Liberty.

The game was called off a couple of hours before the game sadly due to the death of a Hartlepool youth player (from memory)

We went into the Morfa Parc for a drink and as we were about to leave Phil S came in as he had arranged to meet Lorraine Corbett (Swanseajill) to discuss some Trust work.

Anyway she arrived a few minutes later. It was the first time I’d met her but off course ‘knew’ each other from the forum.

Hearing the game had been called off and not make it a total waste. She gave the offer to go to her house where her husband would give us something to eat.

We thanked her for the very kind offer but decided just to have a bit of a wander around Swansea before heading home.

So maybe a small thing to some, but wouldn’t have happened without this forum.

So just as a reminder of times when she stepped up to the mark

Before us JackArmy posters face the final curtain with this being our last month posting on these boards, there’s one thing that I’d like to thank Phil for, and that is the opportunity for all of us to say our goodbyes to each other and reminisce about what it means to endure and, occasionally, celebrate being a Swans fan.

I was on the old SCFC2 site for many a year, and it was such a huge kick in the teeth when, suddenly and without warning, I found myself without a home, so to speak, when the forum there was shut down by the owner.

Maybe they had their reasons for doing so in that manner, but I’ve always thought that they should have at least have made a prior announcement on the site, so that all the posters on there could say their goodbyes and wished each other well for the future.

Thankfully, JackArmy was ready to welcome all those who had been made homeless there with open arms, which came as such a relief at the time.

This site and the forum itself is, and always has been, a mirror image of the site owner, which is to say that it’s a true testament to how professional and generous he is.

What shines through for me is that he gives his all for the team, with whatever project or endeavour he has turned his hand to over the years.

It truly is a world class place to visit, and it will be a tough act to follow, but I’d love for a continuation to emerge in whatever guise this is, that follows on from it.

With that in mind, the second song that perfectly sums up my feelings about the closure of this site and my hopes for a sequel is this:

It was a Hartlepool youth player he’d sadly been killed in a car crash the night before the game.

Our two grandsons were mascots a few weeks ago so we were with Lorraine and her lovely daughter Lynne.

Shame she hasn't been posting as was very level headed (mostly ;))

Hope she's keeping well
