James McClean (again)

My grandad was in a tank regiment waiting to go into Arnhem when he was attacked by one of his own men who lost the plot and went mad. Spent months in hospital and his Sargent came to visit him to tell him to not speak of it because it was bad for morale. When he recovered they shipped him off to Iceland for the rest of the war. He spent the rest of his life suffering depression and he was a shell of a man. What a fucking waste.

No explanation there as to why he stood away from his teammates!?
I take what he said and to a point am saying fair enough but I'm certainly not wet enough behind the ear to actually fall for all that hook and line and sinker.

He has his right and opinion but his delivery is poor and I think if you read between the lines in that little statement then there is certainly contradictions to it.

I imagine he stood away from his teammates to ensure he wasn't seen to be involved in the gesture, as he's explained in his social media post?

Your final sentence would have more weight if you actually gave examples of these contradictions you're spotted.

Did he stand away from his teammates in previous seasons?
My mind says no but could be totally wrong, if he hasn't previously then the question could be asked why this season.

Standing away from his teammates is certainly making a statement and in turn ramming it down others throats!

Luckily we have had players from Ireland, Argentina, Germany and so on just show a little respect and most notably decency and just get on with it.
World's going mad from both sides.

The funny thing here, in work all day I have been throwing the other side to most of my colleagues who are just slagging him to the hilt.

I am trying to highlight the other side to the but they are not having it 🙈😂

His corners rarely beat the first man?

Every year. Same outrage. The bloke has his views. Agree or disagree, that’s his right. Given where he’s from and the history of that country whether you agree with his stance or not at least he’s consistent.

While we’re on the subject, the whole remembrance thing at football is getting ridiculous. Arsenal did theirs about three weeks ago. Should be this weekend and this weekend only. The whole thing has become a massive “who can show they care the most” fest and it dilutes it.
Spot on.

It’s literally getting to the point where we’re measuring the size of a poppy to see who is the most patriotic.

The irony is the most militant on this mentality would share many views that our elders were fighting against.
