It's only 1 game into the season, so far too early to judge the success of Paterson and Walsh as signings. Walsh being injured already is not a good sign, but fingers crossed for the rest of the season, while Paterson has certainly started well.

We're not happy about our transfer situation, but I'd be furious if I was a Bristol City fan. Pearson has let these two players go, plus Famara Diedhiou who was their top scorer and focal point in attack. Also the talented Henri Lansbury went to Luton.

I wouldn't be happy about releasing those players and signing Matty James, Andy King and Danny Simpson. All probably past their best and not adding any long-term value either.

They have had to let Walsh go as the lad can't stay fit. It reminds me of the Jonny Williams to Cardiff signing, you take a punt but the chances of him being fit for a decent period of time are slim.

Paterson maybe similar?

Any club that signs a fit Jonny Williams deserves everything that's coming to them. When are people going to realise that he's never been any good, unless good is running around a lot achieving f*ck all. 'Flatters to deceive' is a phrase that was invented for Williams. He's crap and he'd be lucky to have a L2 club.

Walsh played 35 games just 2 seasons ago, then struggled last year, although it also seems likely Pearson didn't rate him. Paterson has averaged 33 games a season over the last 6 years, although the last 2 seasons have seen him play less than the previous years to be fair. Still doesn't seem too injury prone though.

Regardless of injury history, letting those 2 go and bringing in the three mentioned above hardly screams long-term planning does it?
