We’ve got the US version of the Venky’s.
Not even close, thankfully.

Did the board completely fail to back Cooper in the January of that year when we were flirting with the auto promotion spots? Absolutely.Fairly sure by spring 2021 most people - fans and media included - had Kaplan and Levien's card marked, despite a small degree of success under Cooper. It may have worsened since then but it was not a happy camp even then.

Had they been called out by the fans? Certainly
Had they been black marked by the media? Definitely not

Morris was horridly unfortunate. He had taken a couple of games to get up to speed and while having his most promising performance yet he over stretched for that pass and some studs got caught in the turf and he suffered that freak injury that cost him a year of his career.I don't enjoy defending the owners, but they did back Cooper financially that January. We brought in Whittaker, Freeman, Hourihane, Morris, Areola. Those last three certainly wouldn't have been cheap, with Hourihane coming from the PL and the other two being experienced US internationals.
If you want to argue that the signings were the wrong ones, then I'm right there with you. Although we are benefiting from hindsight as I remember the general feeling being excitement about Hourihane and Morris at least.
The problem, as always, wasn't about the amount we spent but how we chose to spend it.
Let's not forget that it was his choice to return the unused Gyokeres too.I don't enjoy defending the owners, but they did back Cooper financially that January. Hourihane was lauded as a great signing at the time by most.I don't enjoy defending the owners, but they did back Cooper financially that January.
