Says it all. Think Carrick was on 3 Million. I mean if it pays off then all good. We couldn't risk 4 Mill over 4 years and then getting rid of him based on PSR rules irrelevant if we like it or not. We have to work within these rules otherwise we will end up in the shit. I mean we are now from in field perspective, but the club ha said we have a big sponsor next year and championship football will be the sole objective. But not risking it for someone at this rate. Not sure if it's already been posted here but Boro paying Hellberg £20k/week (£1m/year)
The average I think is 800k a year and that tends to be those pushing up the table. Carrick was on around 3 Million overall. Rodgers was on 4 Mill in Scotland. With the amount of managers we have sacked we was never gonna pay a manager 1 Million a year. We just finished paying Duff. Then you have Williams and now Sheehan. PSR and all.£20K a week for a Championship Manager is the average across the current 24 teams. So we are playing in the bargain bucket when recruiting.
Perhaps if we didn’t try to fill these roles with someone who will accept very low pay, we wouldn’t need to keep sacking them. The average I think is 800k a year and that tends to be those pushing up the table. Boro 3-0 up at Hull already, absolutely gutted we missed out on him. Appointing Sheehan instead of him was an appalling decision. He gets my vote for next manager. He looks to be one of the most exciting coaches in Europe at the moment.
We were interested in him before and the Swedish league ends tomorrow so it makes sense that now would be a good time to go get him.
This article on him from a couple of years ago is an interesting read:
