Seems like an excellent prospect, Duff needs to pay more attention to the lad it seems, lad could be a gem in the making.

Aye, just a shame we're developing someone else's gem though Max, almost unheard of at "development" level...

Also the lad was taken off with a groin strain near the end of the game so probably the last we'll see of him.

Duff left after 30 odd minutes according to Jasper.. that is cutting corners, seems like a man under all sorts of pressure IMO

Could be Duff's cutting his nose off to spite his face, although in reality Championship Football is a different animal to U21's football, that's said, there's been many a youngster thrust into first teams to see if can swim, from what I've read about young Kristian is that he's a confident lad who has done lots of the right things in the games he's played, plus he's got gas to spare.
Maybe there's other reasons other than football reasons stopping him having his chance, contractual ones etc, is he on trial or on loan, which makes a massive difference as I doubt you can't play players that are on trial in first team competitive games.

Well surely not even Duff cannot have failed to see the talent this guys got and how he could help the first team.

It's probably the case that everyone knows he's only going to be here for a short period (Levein has publicly stated hes probably going back to DC) so Duff would probably rather persist with players he knows will be here next week.

He's also played for DC United and their reserves.. so he's had experience, scoring regularly for our u21s.. he's surely earned a bench spot at least, or first team training

The fact is, we are nurturing Fletcher in readiness for him to go back to DC United so they can get the benefit of hopefully him hitting the ground running and looking at a nice fee in time for him.
Duff isn't interested because he knows he's not for our benefit.......Duff can't be blamed on this one.

The comment that it looks like Fletcher is going back has come after weeks of having the lad here and people making decisions. It wasn't a foregone conclusion. If Duff really wanted him this season then I'm pretty sure he'd be staying.

He's had some quiet games and maybe been flattered by leading the line for a high-scoring, creative team, but no one can argue with this week's output.

How do you know it wasn't a forgone conclusion then? Levein said DC have a new manager so he'd be going back. That seems to be the driving force rather than Duff not particularly liking him.

But people are forgetting we can only name 5 subs in the matchday squad, 4 of which are absolute shoe-ins, so Duff hasn't been able to realistically name him. Now Ashby is out long term, the timing of Leveins words are extremely unfortunate.

You're forgetting that Levien rules both sides of the Atlantic, Coleman is just a pretender the real ruler is that slippery slimy c@@t that is Levien.

Is your preferred narrative that Fletcher came here in September to prepare for a new manager DC United didn't even need until October, and still haven't appointed (it's still an interim bloke in charge according to their statement released today)? The lad says he wants to play in Europe and was trying to earn that chance. But if there's no chance of playing everyone will recognise it's better for him to be back home competing with Benteke and uh... Theodore Ku-DiPietro?

Looked absolutely miserable celebrating his goals today. Maybe just sick of great service making things so easy for him (third goal a cracking finish). Personally even ignoring the loan limits I wouldn't have played him until he was our player. No sense driving the price up or attracting competition for him, even with Levien on both sides of the negotiating table.

I have no preferred narrative.

I just find it hard to believe that Duff would still be ignoring Fletcher now a loan spot has opened (and we're not in great form) if he (Duff) has the final decision on whether Fletcher stays or goes back.

Some are suggesting that he's not really on loan with us, but just on trial.

But if that were the case, wouldn't the u21s have submit his name on teamsheets as 'trialist'?
