• Thank you very much | Diolch yn fawr

All at JackArmy.net would like to thank everyone who has played a part on this site over the past 25 years whether that is through writing, contributing, moderating, posting or just visting and reading.

Without any of you the work that has gone into the site would have been pointless and we will always be proud that we built, generated and managed a community that was such a big part of the Swansea City supporting life for so long.

It has been a pleasure to bring to you the site for so long but the time is now right to turn the lights out for the last time but we do it both with a heavy heart and a sense of pride driven by the so many messages received since we announced the closure.

The site will remain here for a period until we archive and mothball it for the last time later this summer but all aspects are in a read only format.

Thank you though for all the memories

Not something I’ve tried on my work phone. They may not approve.
I had a Samsung for a brief period of time for my work phone and handed it back and just used my personal iPhone instead.

Hated the bloody thing.

I've been Android for years (let's have it)
Wouldn't change for anything, the missus has had her iPhone stuck to her hand for a similar time, both of us wouldn't change.
Is it true you have to pay for most apps on ios?
Can't say I've ever had to pay for your standard apps like sky sports, BBC etc..

I'm too tight to buy anything app related though.

Good point, basically Samsung only nudge up the camera specs every year as an upgrade.
They are pushing the AI angle this year, if you want to know the most popular larger in Newfoundland at the moment then it could be worth the money 👍😂
The same goes for Apple. Gone are the days of getting excited by the launch of the latest handset.

IOS and Apple here. iPads and iPhones all round. They just work together so easily.
The biggest pain is the charging cable, different for iPads to iPhones. Admittedly the phones are all iPhone 11, which are fine, iPads are Pro, excellent.

I took our company down an Apple tech route nearly fifteen years ago, didn’t know it at the time but it also set a personal route which will probably last a lifetime.

Even if the desire was there to do so, it seems impossible to pull back from work iPhone, personal iPhone, work iPad, personal iPad, watch, 50k photos in iCloud, shared cloud storage across family, and so on, all of which are linked in various ways.

If my parents ask for tech support on any other mobile OS I point them in the direction of my sisters.

I’m not aware of any mainstream App Store apps which you pay for, but are free via Google Play Store.

Switched to apple about 5 years ago? Can’t really remember the exact year!

Before that I had used Android for years, but I was getting a bit fed up of having to delete stuff, due to there not being enough storage for not that many apps IMO, It was only I suppose a mid range Android, but there never seemed to be enough space.

Throughly love the IPhone, I guess my only gripe is the way they stop the IOS updates, and for me they sure come around quickly, take the IPhone 11, that stops being supported next year, which is crazy, one of the family bought theirs think it was 21/22? for 440 quid, and it stops being supported as early as next year.

Edit: Just looked again and it seems support for the 11, ends end of this year.

My first smartphone- bought around 15 years ago - happened to be apple. I left it unopened for a week as I was scared of it. So that might give you an insight on my approach to new tech.

My missus is a nailed-on user of iPhones too. She claims it's because learning to use a Samsung would be "too difficult". Though this doesn't explain why she can't turn the sodding volume down on her latest iPhone.

Oh, Master Bear switched from iPhone to Samsung but is planning to return to the IOS fold, chiefly because of his car's "dislike" of Samsung.

While Samsung's plans sound exciting, I've taken to buying my handsets off BackMarket, so I'm always a couple of years behind the latest tech.
