As I've said previously, these men have come on board with their eyes wide open. They are not expecting to make a quick profit from Premier League football, nor do they have any parachute payments to fall back on. At the moment, there are no players in the squad who look like they might be the next multi-million-pound sale.

Basically, they are the complete opposite of the previous owners, who saw us as a way to make a quick buck. They have taken us on with all our faults and problems.

I, for one, welcome them with open arms. Perhaps they will be the ones to finally take us to the next level.

Personally, I reckon there is reason to be slightly more optimistic than that. No one buys a club with the aim of being a Championship club, because the league is nothing but a money sucking black hole with no chance of a return on your investment. Remember, the last lot took over a Premier League club and I wouldn't put it past them that they thought it was like the MLS system of franchises where relegation isn't a possibility - certainly some members of the hedge-fund weren't aware.

These guys know that they will have to put their hands in their pockets if they want to get to the promised land. Of course, there are no guarantees of success but at least we're likely to see more of an effort to get us there.

However, looking at the way things have gone for teams promoted in recent years I wouldn't expect any top flight visits to be anything more than brief - Brentford seem to be the only team doing things on a shoestring thanks to some very shrewd decisions and the abilities of their manager who, wilst being a complete twat, is one of the best in the division, creating a team that is far more than the sum of its parts. But yes, I agee it's money well spent to get rid of them if it happens, and any promotion is likely to be years away and if they get payments for two of the next 10 they'll be lucky.

The Brentford points are all correct, and highlight the reasons so many promoted teams are struggling in recent season.

All three went down last season, but Sheffield United were basically dead on arrival. Even our squad this season could give them a run for their money, they're actually stronger after relegation.

Burnley seemed to line up with the Brentford model quite well off the field, by signing a load of young talent that could crack the league, but Kompany was absolutely toss, and they refused to do anything other than pass themselves into the Championship. This would be precisely my expectation of us if we magically went up with Luke (and hoping the new owners actually spend some money).

Luton gave it a good go despite their obvious flaws, but never really felt like they were that arsed by relegation, so wisely have spent the PL money on a new ground, loads of young players, and funding the rest of their club. I would be absolutely fine with this if we shat out a promotion, too. Take the hit for a year, have a crack at staying up, but set yourself up for more long-term success. (I appreciate this season hasn't been ideal for them, but still).

Brentford basically did all of the above positives, whilst also hosting a manager good enough to keep up their squad when it was at it's weakest. It helped they had a proper superstar for their level in Ivan Toney, but Frank is doing an amazing job there, and should've been poached by Liverpool after Klopp or United after ETH imo.

My understanding it was capped at 4 years. So any time in that period but payments for only 4 years worth

10 million every year we're in the EPL up to 40 million so 4yrs in EPL up until 2035.

Completely hopeless at running us and the want to profit off the back of someone else’s better management. If those figure are right, that’s not a good deal for us (not that we’re getting into the PL any time soon as others have said).

Don't forget that Brentford invested heavily in data analytics before most others (much like Brighton), everyone is doing similar now.

If we were to go up, it's a miracle that we won't have a self appointed DoF with a penchant for signing players who have the odd good game against us on stupid wages/transfer fees
