...for the remainder of this season at least we have to get Paterson back onside and build the team around him. While I have no expectations of seeing him on Saturday against Blackburn we have to hope that we see him back for the midweek game next Tuesday.

Wolf is direct and fast and improving with each game but he isn't a creator in the same way that Paterson is. Likewise with Ntcham, he can boss a midfield but he isn't a player with trickery and guile.

If we can get his head back in the game for the remainder of the season then we have to be lining up something like this:

-------------------------- Fisher ------------------------------
Christie ------ Naughton -------- Burns --------- Ogbeta
------------------- Downes ------ Grimes -------------------
Paterson ------------- Ntcham ----------------------- Wolf
------------------------- Piroe --------------------------------

Christie and Ogbeta able to play one twos and overlap/underlap Paterson and Wolf, Ntcham linking up play between the defence and the attacking half of the pitch while Grimes/Downes covers any attacking movement from the fullbacks.

That looks a cracking line up to be fair… maybe slightly harsh on Obafemi who I thought did alright again tonight.

It may look a cracking line up, and tbf I kind of agree, but the problem is now RM. He clearly cannot get the best out of them, and just what he's trying to do now escapes me.

Slowly beginning to come around to that view.
However can the board afford to get rid of him and his assistants?
