Losing a pet

I would really advise against it. I was there for our Staff/Lab cross at the vets. It was the worst thing I ever did and after the fact wished I'd never been there. It was awful and it's haunted me since, over 4 years and if we ever have another dog I won't be there when it happens.

I understand that it was hard for you, but I believe that you did the right thing, and I regret not doing that.

Plenty of cuddles tonight I am sure and no doubt a rotten nights sleep. This is the biggest favour you can do for her to repay her for the joy she has brought you and the family. Best wishes to you mate.

Evening all. It only seems like yesterday that Daz had posted that they'd finally lost their dog at around 17 years old (I think)

We are having our Lab put down (who is a couple of months shy of 15) on Saturday. Bloody horrible. Sorry for the morbid post but it just seems surreal.

I have a wonderful dog who’s now 9 and is as much a part of our family as any one else.

I’m heartbroken for you.

Someone once said that you can take comfort from the fact that you’ve been so privileged to be able to be with them for all of their life. It may be a small comfort but in time that knowledge will hopefully make you content.

As others have said, be with them until the end. They don’t ask for anything from us compared to all they give us but it’s one small thing you can do for them when they most need it.

I don’t know what happens when we’re all gone but one thing’s for sure - any type of heaven will surely see them waiting for us.

We lost our beloved Dobe Max in 2013 still miss him today, cracking dog he was he collapsed and died here all alone, lad was in hospital and had been for a week or more, Mrs stayed with him at the hospital and it was the Mrs birthday so I stayed down there all day with her and the lad, we came home to have a takeaway got caught up in a tail back on M4 due to an accident on A465, I opened the front door and an horrendous smell hit me and I knew what had opened, to this day I regret not coming back halfway through the day from the Hospital, poor boy had taken a back seat all week virtually on his own, cause we were at Hospital and eldest in Swansea Uni, not have a dog since, Sherpa the rescued Dobe we had before Max, dropped dad as well in kitchen whilst Mrs was cooking Tea, heart breaking,
