Luke Williams on Leicester City | Reaction

Some of the football we played was certainly more fluid and exciting than Duff… thought on the whole we did alright… just some silly mistakes.

I'm just not seeing this. We were light years better against Millwall, Plymouth and S Weds. It's exactly - exactly - like the early days of the Russbot. First thought backwards, play mostly in our own half, suicide football, concede loads of stupid goals that no one else does, and then a few forays forward, but no Piroe to actually score, and then concede softly again. There was a short period last night where we looked ok and then Humphreys and Rushworth weighed in to kill us, after Wood and Fulton had already made their early contribution. Formation, selection, and tactics all wrong, again.

I'm not saying he can't shape up and learn, Martin seems to have, and Williams needs to. This 5 at the back nonsense and messing about for no gain will kill us. Opinions aside, and I understand people desperate to see 'green shoots', I am too, but 11-2 in 3 games is a fact, as is that all 3 games should have been dead and buried by half time, and worse than 11-2.

I'm still on the bus, but by god, Saturday will be an arse clencher. He needs a win.

Ask yourselves this. Would we have been pumped 5-0 by Saints and Bournemouth respectively under Duff? And would the defence have been as open as it has been recently? I’m not saying we should’ve stuck with Duff, the football was boring and I couldn’t genuinely see what he was trying to do.
I think given time and definitely a change in personnel, we will hopefully improve under Williams

As far as defence go's, its beyond the coaches. We can swap coaches all season but as long as we are interchanging Wood, Bashir, Darling & Cabango we will never get to where we want to be. They need to be combined with a quality, experienced leader. Harsh, but I have never known such a weak, dumb, naive set of CB's. They are being exposed on a weekly basis.

Back 4 and they'd have a chance. Williams' tactics and formation hangs them out to dry and magnifies enormously their multiple weaknesses. That's what's dumb.

I agree monmouth and I have listed what I see as my ideal formation for us in the Ronald thread.

LW keeps using the word brave... you win battles being smart. Stop exposing our obvious weakness in a back 5 which actually is a paceless back 3

I had the same thought about Duff last night - that there is no way we'd have conceded 11 goals in these three games under him and been as open as we have been.

The only worry I have so far is the 3 on the back again. Whoever comes in as manager next should be told that playing 3 at the back is a sackable offence!

I thought he spoke quite well after the game, though. Didn't try and sugar coat anything which I liked.

In some ways, I think these are quite good games for him because we'd probably have lost them even if we'd been 20 points better off and in the playoff places. 'Free hits' as Phil described it yesterday.

Saturday will be a good marker as to whether we have improved in the month or so since he's been here.
