• Thank you very much | Diolch yn fawr

All at JackArmy.net would like to thank everyone who has played a part on this site over the past 25 years whether that is through writing, contributing, moderating, posting or just visting and reading.

Without any of you the work that has gone into the site would have been pointless and we will always be proud that we built, generated and managed a community that was such a big part of the Swansea City supporting life for so long.

It has been a pleasure to bring to you the site for so long but the time is now right to turn the lights out for the last time but we do it both with a heavy heart and a sense of pride driven by the so many messages received since we announced the closure.

The site will remain here for a period until we archive and mothball it for the last time later this summer but all aspects are in a read only format.

Thank you though for all the memories

    Phil Sumbler

At a time where football is slowly being ruined by greed it's games like this that remind you why it's the best sport in the world.
Didn’t the Government step in after the FA wanted to sell all rights to TNT Sports? Happy if they did because I enjoyed that on BBC 1 today.

Margate 1 Swansea 0 was considered a massive embarrassing shock back in the day, so this is off the scale.

We've had a few of those - Havant & Waterlooville, Margate, Kettering, Nuneaton (twice!) and Minehead.

Technically the biggest shock of all time?

I must admit I rolled my eyes when the comms were mentioning ‘the biggest upset of all time’…to be honest I didn’t realise how low Macclesfield were in the league system (put it on at kick off, while putting together furniture…ffs), add to that the fact that Palace are the holders, it really is the biggest FA cup shock ever.

Well looks like they banked around a nice 120 thou or so for that and probably another 30 or 40 if they lose the next round

Players had better be given a belated xmas bonus out of that
Fairly sure I heard they had made £400k before the win bonus so £1/2 million in total

I know, but Margate was the one that I remember shocked my young idealistic self to the core. It holds a special place and I remember it being on the news (probably the welsh news, but, you know, 12 or so. After that, more cynical worldly wise me was hardly surprised. h&W being 3-0 up when I switched the score on after getting home from some do, did make me raise an eyebrow to be fair.

They didn't step in, the FA Cup I believe is on the 'crown jewel' list of sporting events and so TNT knew they would have to "sub-let" (so to speak) some of the games to a terrestrial provider.

That used to be the ONLY live game shown all season. It felt bigger than winning the league in those days, or at least equal..
Agree. You’d get that and possibly one of the European finals if am English or Scottish club was involved. They felt like events then. I still love the FA cup mind.
