I understand that, but they've got top internationals and are bottom half of the Premier League.. I've watched Martinez, De Ligt, Malacia, Mazraoui and Eriksen before they were at Utd.. they weren't this atrocious and I rated Amorim because I used to watch the Portuguese league and Sporting were my favourites to watch..

They might not have been this atrocious, but that doesn't mean they're actually good enough either.

I was possibly being a bit facetious just then - of course it's not just Fergie going. They've just been so badly run for so many years, on and off the pitch. The amount of money they've wasted on players is bordering on distasteful.

That's one of the best illustrations of why they're in the mess they're in. Another few good ones:

- Solskjaer offered them Haaland for £4m when he was managing him at Molde. He knew Haaland would be signed by someone soon and wanted it to be his old club. Obviously they said no thanks.
- I mentioned it in another thread, but boasting that they scouted 804 right backs before deciding the best option was to sign Wan-Bissaka for £50m.
- Solskjaer was offered Antony for £25m and turned him down. When ten Hag insisted he wanted him, they panicked and spunked £80m on him.

Player has 20 good games and United pay massively over the odds for them and turns out they are shite.

The most astonishing thing about their demise is that they had a 20-year head start on Liverpool as well. They had the best of everything - 1993 to 2013 they had a better stadium, better squad, better manager, better spending power.

In the space of just over a decade, they've fallen behind them on every single conceivable measure.

It takes a special kind of fuckwittery to mess things up like that.
