manning 'dive'

Many years back, Cliffy Jones ex Swans, Spurs and Wales winger said that if you are caught it's better to go over than struggle to stay on your feet and risk straining a muscle. That's just as true today. It's not a "dive" every time a player goes to the ground, it's self-preservation, just some are more preserved than others.

You think that Deli Ali did the right thing and was streetwise. Personally I think that he was a cheat, as was Manning. You really can't change your mind depending on the colour of the shirt.

Of course you can, we are football fans. What goes for us is perfectly fine and should be laughed off, what goes against us is cheating and done by scummy turds and should be moaned about. Deli Alli was a cheating c**t, Ryan Manning needs to work on his technique. It's not frigging netball. 😆

Good point, well made.

I was thinking the same. Terrific delivery and awareness of space. Apart from Lati's brain fart, everyone was on their game and part of a well oiled team performance, so wouldn't like to pick a MoM. Cullen's finishes were superb and the other Ryan was immense again.

At the time I thought he'd dived and not very cleverly, but ...
On watching it back I've changed my view. Worrall stamped down towards the ball but missed and Manning's left foot kicked into the the defender's. Worrall's action caused the contact and Manning, who still had control of the ball, fell down naturally - no theatrics just straight down. Someone reckoned he left his leg out but if you are looking to move away from a defender from the line Manning was taking you have to shift your body weight away from the box and anchor with the right leg which leaves your left leg slightly wider.
This wasn't a stiff leg at 90 degrees that Kane, Rashford, Sterling and others have used to cheat referees for years.
Penalty.
(But, was Routs off-side before the cross on the first goal?)
