Official confirmation but I think this is enough for me

Glad it's seemingly over, all the speculation was doing my nut in - Morris definitely came close but happy to say got it wrong this time 🤣 Just got to explain to Mrs S now where the kids university funds have gone ;-)

I was that confident I even got my Mrs to lump on Phil. Beans on toast for both of us for a few weeks it is……

In all seriousness I reckon he was close, can’t remember where I read now, but there was apparently a split in opinion with different decision makes about whether it should be Morris or Martin, assuming that would be the Americans and winter.

That possibly wouldn't surprise me and would go some way to why we were split between the two.

I wonder which way the split was though if that was the case and who got their way in the end. If I had any money left to bet then I suspect the owners won...

For now I'll say IF it's him then it looks like we have one of the three we were interested in. Football is a strange world any we've known so many ups and downs, but a manager taking a job on the night before his current club starts the season doesn't sit right. We won't know the reasons behind his decision so will welcome him but hope he doesn't use the old project word. I'd guess it's about taking the chance while he can.

Someone posted a link to their forum and I've just been reading it and something struck a chord.

There was a post from a Swans fan saying "just like Roberto" and I guess to them it would feel like that way. A manager getting them playing the right way, in the middle of a "project", would never leave, ready to carry on the job, why would he go to a club that doesn't feel much bigger/better equipped (delete as applicable) etc

And then he goes.

Martin is Roberto. We are their Wigan.. ;)

Why are MK Dons and Bournemouth playing their Carabao Cup game 11 days before everyone else?

Exactly. Roberto was called quite a few choice names by many in our fanbase and now we could be welcoming a manager who on the face of it is doing the same. In the end that's how it is and I will look forward to the season more positively but don't think we are entering a phase of stability just yet.

The owners are authorising shelling out for compo though, I’d have thought they would have preferred a free agent, but it’s probably out of the Grimes imminent sale and will be taken out of any player recruitment.

I got to be honest, it’s an odd one for me. MoscowJack is on the other forum saying he was actually with one of Russell Martin’s mates when they were discussing and he flat out wasn’t interested.

No idea Sheffield W v Huddersfield tomorrow as well. Maybe it was all scripted so he could save goodbye and get the fans 'thanks ' :D

If it’s true he’s coming here surely he’s going to get some serious grief from MK supporters today considering his similar to Roberto comments about project etc.

Also like Rodgers leaving Watford for Reading, and then again when he “turned down” Liverpool to stay with us….until Liverpool offered him the job. Potter similar. These punters are all the same. To think they give a toss about what club they are at is a mugs game. To hero worship them is stupid. We learnt the hard way, now MK Dons have too. If it all falls through he would be blowing smoke up them again about how when it came to it he couldn’t leave. Badge kissers and fist pumpers. All pricks.

So we’ll probably be looking again next year one way or the other. I hope Winter starts earlier in terms of proper options.

I do feel sorry for MK Dons, as I remember Martinez. We of course had the last laugh, getting Rodgers, so for them there’s reason for optimism, but it feels like a kick in the guts at the time.

Not sure how far things have progressed but don’t rule out a Eustace situation if he is in dugout today. If he’s coming, he should be on his way here to sign, not this last game rubbish

All this talk of Roberto and Wigan gets me thinking we're going to win the FA Cup.
