Russell Martin is hopeful that Joel Piroe will be part of his team for next season but admits he will attract significant interest in the summer transfer window after he reached the 20 goal mark for the campaign. Leicester City are credited with serious interest in the Dutchman according to Voetbal...

If prem interest is serious, he’s gone. Strange how the number of goals seems to be the main driver always though. Mitrovic is a multiple proven PL failure but scores like a rabbit in Bunny Wind Street in the champ.

Two years on his contract, the yanks need to insist on top dollar first two weeks of the window or he goes nowhere. They won’t.

Exactly Monny, that's what pees me off with the yanks. Just give us a chance FFS.

He'll put pressure on to move aswell though if a premier league side comes in. It's where we are in the food chain.

The question is probably more around what is the breaking point where any bid for Piroe exceeds what we can realistically turn down?

What is his value?

Surely we could ask for a similar fee we received for McBurnie?

Lets hope we already have targets in two groups.

Group 1, players who will improve what we already have.

Group 2, players who can replace those we may lose.

Like Brentford, when they lost Watkins, they got top dollar and spent a large chunk of the money on Toney.

If he goes, or anyone else we need, I hope they go early, not in the last week of the window.

That's the ballpark I'd be hoping for. I'd say more considering transfer fees are always rising on average, but Covid may have changed that in the short term.

However, the Dutch club inserted a sell-on clause into the agreement they and the Welsh club struck last summer, entitling them to a percentage of the transfer fee generated for his services if the Swans were to sell him to the Foxes or another side this summer.

If Piroe goes we should expect at least the same or more than McBurnie.

Can’t see any of the big clubs coming in. He would end up a bit part player for the likes of Leicester. It may be one of the promoted clubs or perennial strugglers.

The wages would be too much for any player to reject a move to the EPL.

His strengths are that he is lethal with both feet & his composure. His main drawbacks are his lack of pace & he’s not really a target man either. Hopefully that works for us. Martin has made a shrewd move changing his position. Him & Obafemi could terrorise the Championship next season if we can build on the current squad & keep them both.

This paper talk is all driven by the club sticking a ‘For Sale’ sign on him. No one else is talking about it, it’s all coming from within. Heartbreaking if we lose him so quickly, he’s looked like one of the best players we’ve ever had in Championship and he’s still in big the early stages of his development, which could well stall at a second or third level PL club, like Leicester.

Any fee we receive for him will not be enough to buy us another Joel Piroe, just a more expensive inferior replacement.

I reckon that’s pretty much on the money.
