Martin Mis-management

From the very outset alarm bells were ringing loudly.

- Russell Martin unceremoniously dumped Joel Piroe from the matchday squad for the inaugural game. At the same time he also stripped Piroe of the #9 jersey and gave it instead to Obafemi. The abandoned Piroe was photographed on Swansea beach training away from the squad, with his father and friend.

- He dumped Fulton - a player who allegedly would never play a game again for the Swans.

- Obafemi was dumped - for 'not running enough'. That's the only explanation Oba was given. Left out of training routines, matchday squad preps, with no support and way down in the doldrums.

- Whittaker was shunned, sidelined and scapegoated - the Bournemouth away game stands out - played left back and left out to dry under a bus when we got beasted by the promotion chasers.

- Pato - dressing room leader Pato was always a big threat. A clash of egos which Martin has failed to deal with. And always will with players who command greater respect from the dressing room. Our game changer, our Pato-Piroe party was dumped. A clash of egos which Martin flunked, disastrously for him and most importantly for us fans.

- Loanees - no words, no more top level loanees unless someone's desperate.

Many, many more examples to draw upon. The overriding theme is crap, insecure, insincere gross mis-man-management. All in the cause of Martin's CV and his cheap car salesman PR machine.

If anyone needs to learn experientially it's Russell Martin. The twisted irony.

Whether could handled two obviously problem players in Obafemi and Paterson better I'm not sure. That's up for debate, we know though stuck up for and publicly made excuses for Patersons behaviour in the past.

Whittaker we know was recalled by other people in the club so there's no blame there. Martin can't now play him because he's open to be sold, which again isn't Martin's fault. Similar financial directives from above were also probably in play explaining Fulton and Bennetts absences, so again out of Martin's hands.

Piroe missed 1 game and went onto have a stellar season. Ogbeta he never wanted, above interference again.

There's plenty Martin is responsible for, but let's be balanced and realistic about it.

The saddest thing is that the fans pump him back... Like why?

Stockholm syndrome maybe

I don’t mind the fist pumps after a win, but it’s the “Swansea love you more than you will know” song that does my head in because it must actually make him feel like he’s doing things right.

Stuck up for Pato in his contract dispute.

As for Oba not playing at present, I'm pretty certain we'll see him in first squad after the window if he can't get his move.

I’ve said this before on another thread. Russ has had a really easy ride here, especially considering the performances and results.
I’m all for getting behind the manager, but the way he’s hero worshipped amongst some is quite embarrassing in my eyes.

Whittaker was desperate not to come back to work with Martin.

Out of Martin's hands ?? This sits entirely with Martin's mis-management - he washed his hands of one of our brightest young prospects. Unable to get the best out of an attacking threat - don't forget, Martin has yet to move his focus beyond our shambolic defence. Shame.

Stop indulging yourself with your command of the English language, just because you can string a sentence together and punctuate it correctly doesn’t mean you are a sage of all things Football.

Does everyone hero worship him then? I’m pretty sure everyone who support him and like him will still point out major flaws and don’t just say he’s god gift for the sake of it, whereas I find everyone who dislikes him won’t point out anything decent of Martin and will just say negative comment after negative comment about him and try to make certain rubbish up, it’s pathetic really.

How about sticking on topic and 'show some class' instead of lashing out, Copa-half-cut.

Thoughts on Martin's mis-management maudlin melodramas ?

He needs to get himself a senior mentor, a guiding influence, a crutch and support to help elevate him above the likes of Pato who are far stronger leaders in the dressing room. He's fast losing the dressing room.

Another patronising pompous post from you, “ he’s fast losing the dressing room “ yeah ok.

As far as sticking on topic goes why don’t you try eating one ( not sure if you’re old enough to remember a Topic bar ) far tastier than a dictionary.

There's no evidence he didn't want to come back due to Martin. He was settled and having a good season at Plymouth and knew isn't going to an automatic starter for us no matter who's the manager. His agent probably also informed him of interest from elsewhere and that until he's sold, he won't be playing any minutes for us. All outside Martin's control.

Washed his hands? Do you think Martin is leaving Whittaker out of match day squads with no forward on the bench out of choice then?

There is plenty of evidence.

Washed his hands when he threw him under his own bus on the way back from Bournemouth. Washed his hands when he didn't want him, he's never taken to him. Whereas Schumacher has and has developed him into the sought after attacking threat he his.

Morgan is a lovely, passive, happy-go-lucky lad who wants to make the very best out of his career. He has excellent support and sound advice.

So, when puerile, jealous folk lambast him on the internet, whilst at the same time supporting Martin, some proper fans will look to set the record straight.
