I'm currently in Sicily and I'm discussing with a local businessman making you an offer you can't refuse.
Here's your canoli.IMG_20230519_134225.jpg

We’re off to Sicily in September. Any tips would be very welcome.

I'm surprised you haven't got filled in like Darran should.. in fact, aren't you the one who sh*t out from a charity boxing fight from the old forum

I'm a big Montalbano fan, so I stayed two nights in the house used for his home in the series, which is a B&B in reality. But if that means nothing to you, I'd recommend the street food tour we did in Palermo today (Streaty Tours, google them). And the beautiful baroque towns used in Montalbano in the SE of the island - Scicli, Ragusa, Modica, etc.

apart from taking Cardiff game seriously, Martin offers little else.

I have to think his perfect record against Cardiff means more to some fans than anything else. There's literally fans on Twitter crying about him going, talking about how he saved the club when he got here, most talented young manager in the league, etc.

It's weird, I could have sworn we'd been in the playoffs the previous two seasons rather than on the verge of going out of existence?

This has Sousa vibes all over it.

Goodbye Russ.

Completely changed the side from Cooperball with hardly any time when he was appointed.
Despite having a weaker side at the start of last season, and being shafted in the January window, he improved on the league placing. a
A young manger with a vision who made mistakes and owned up to them.
Gutted here and the last time I felt like that was when Guidolin was screwed by them. Look what followed...
Be careful what you wish for.

Been a few times, the best area for me is the South East, this is Maltobano country. Syracuse and Ortigia are great for a day's visit as it Noto. Go to the market in Ortigia. Walking in the necropolis in Pantellica and Noto Antica. Ragusa is great base, fantasic restaurants. Selinute is a brilliant historical site and the beach and natural environment at the Oasis de Vendicari is a good day out.

The main tourist areas in Palermo are worth a visit and there's great restaurants, the rest of Palermo feels downbeat. Cefalu is a good town and beach. Marsala is a good port with a decent town and some interesting shops and restaurants. Erice is a fabulous hill top town near Trapani but a bit of a drive. Getting up Etna is a good day walking but not in the heat. Great walks in the Parco Delle Madonie.

Good things, authenticity; no global brands, no one speaks English and most tourists are Italian, great food and wine (we went to Avola for the Nero d'Avola!), scenery, history, the people are easy going and tolerate schoolboy italian. Roads are very good we flew into Trapani and drove down to Syracuse in a few hours. It's easy to get about and explore and good food is inexpensive.

Other things; it's hot even at the end of June we were into the 40s. Rubbish, there's lots of dumped at the side of the road in some areas and there's a few stray dogs in some areas.

Have a great time.

Thank you Pego and Jackmanandboy, great info.

Do yourself a favour and book yourself a week in Beni instead, far classier than Sicily, a pint and a kebab for less than a fiver and the Las Vegas of tribute acts, could even meet up with Pegleg.
