"Loads of Positives"

The only positive that springs to mind is that we did enough to keep them to 3 when many were expecting 5 or 6. Whoopee.

I'm getting fed up of hearing the same excuses from Martin after each defeat. Great on the ball, kept the home crowd quiet, maybe should have created a few more openings. Yes maybe so, but sort it out. The process is not working Russ. Time ticking away. Blackpool are bottom of this league for a reason. No more excuses come Wednesday evening please Russ. Get at them with our best 11 from minute 1. No uncessary overplay at the back and play on the front foot. Opposing managers have got us all worked out. High press and wait for a mistake.

Does anyone still think it would have been a good idea to give Martin money to spend in the transfer window?

I just hope he goes in the summer. We don't know what his contract says, and one thing the Americans definitely know a lot about is sports contracts. So it might not be hard to get done. We don't know.

A 95% pass completion is very good, if you make 20 passes across the front of your goal, at least one is likely to go astray. One of the reasons the possession stats are so high is because teams are happy for Swansea to keep the ball and pass it to and fro in front of goal, and so create opportunities for them to score.
Generally for possession,
<65% likely Swansea win
65 to 75% probable draw
>75% possession, Swansea usually lose.

Same words as last year against the Blades. Better. Quicker more athletic.. yes but we haven't moved forward at all. For me a home defeat ti Blackpool he should chuck in the towel. 2 wins back to back keeps him in the job until the summer.

I know you've used words like likely, probably and usually for obvious reasons, but just wondering how close to the truth are those figures? Not doubting you, just interested.

Well we do have a whole recruitment and scouting team. Why couldn't we sign players they've identified? Surely they have identified some. Because no matter who the manager is, the fact remains that we are desperately short in 3 or 4 positions.

And what's the plan going forward? The club isn't to spend anymore money while Martin is at the club? He could conceivably still be here for another season beyond this one at least. And we have a few starters out of contract in the summer too.

Will it still be the same then? Assuming we drift along in mid table until the end of the season and Martin stays (the yanks won't pay to sack him&no other club is likely to take him), do we still then not spend anything because Russell Martin happens to be our manager?

Would rather fist myself than listen to his old baloney, worst manager since Kenny J, and that includes Bradley...

I have not made any proper counts, hence the weasel words, but I have found over time that, show me the percentage possession and I will tell you the result. I find it is rarely wrong. It is part of why the Swansea way of 'closing out a game' almost always results in the opposition scoring.

They may have very sensibly decided not try to sign players with the current management structure. If you bring players into a failing structure it is very hard to turn them around when the structure improves. Add to that any incoming manager will have his own ideas about how to set up the team and who he wants to bring in, and you don't want to find yourself with a bunch of new recruits with long contracts who no longer fit in.

Pushing a load of dosh into a failing managerial system, and it is failing, that much is clear, is just wasting money. It will inevitably reduce the money available for any new manager.
