He was never the problem. I’m not sure why people couldn’t see that. All this rubbish about him only going sideways and backwards wasn’t supported by the stats (or human eyes). The full season before he left us he was in the top 4% of midfielders for forward passes, for example. Grimes may not have worked out here but he is a good player.

Grimes is flourishing at Coventry, he’s led the to the top of the table, he’s had a few M.0.M’s and the Coventry fans generally rave about his performances. Maybe what we saw here was the result of instructions from his managers, the style RM wanted to play or the fact that his team mates here weren't doing what his new team mates in Coventry are doing.

Last night was poor, there were very limited options upfront and it ended up being played around the back aimlessly.
