I wonder if he's allowed to do teamtalks at Coventry?

If its for the wages, it's clear that no one else has every come in for him

If the rumours are true, that explains the almost total lack of effort or interest from him since the festive season. Trying not to hurt himself to get a bigger wage.

Unsurprisingly leading to a catastrophic run of games. Great professionalism from the club captain.

I’m one who thinks his contribution is vastly overstated, as obvious from my earlier comments - he’s a bang average championship midfielder, hence, I guess, why it’s Coventry. Who have exactly 4 points more than us despite us being dreadful.

I’m also one who thinks our ability to get another midfielder of any quality through the door this week is almost non existent. Or any player really.

So all in all, an absolute shocker.

Tell you what, this new billionaire owner is having some impact… Next level.

Begs the question why we let Abdulai go given he can play in that position. Oh, and if we are really interested in a midfielder from Orient, why didn’t we link that to the Abdulai move? I guess it’s a FFP thing. Money in recognised all at once, money out over length of contract whereas we can’t do that if it’s a net deal. But if that’s the case, we really are running on fumes.

What a shambles.

Think he missed a decimal point at the start of the number!
I honestly can’t see us getting £3m for him. 29 years old, non existent proper stats (goals scored & goals created). It would be lovely to be pleasantly shocked mind, not that we’ll get anyone decent in as a replacement either.

I'm of the opinion we won't get a decent replacement in, especially with Coleman and the chuckle brothers running things.. but it'll be a fresh, new start to see how we function without him hogging the ball like someone in school, players have to take their own intiative and responsibility now and they might improve as players

I like Grimes more than most, but surely even his cynics can rationalise that losing your captain - a man that plays literally every minute for the side - with four days of a transfer window left is absolutely insane?

He is objectively better than the alternatives we have at the club, and no-one responsible for transfers has proven themselves even remotely adequate at finding a replacement. This would be complete madness (unless the fee is extraordinary, which I can't imagine).
A captain who is arrogant and full of himself, offers no captaincy on the pitch apart from tossing (sic) a coin ans is disliked by the other players.
He has done nothing for 4 years and, as for this seasons efforts, where he has been happy to loiter around the back four playing 2 yard passes. What a loss. The only loss is to our numbers.
And I speak as someone who has debated on here that he is our best midfielder WHEN played as a CM and told to drive forward.
