McClean kicking Ronald in the back of the head

I am a strong believer that if a player gets cited after the match like this then in the next fixture between the clubs his side should have to play with a man sent off from the start.

I took a look at the Wrexham fans reaction and they're all pissed with McLean as they are short on wing backs. Although one guy was moaning that nothing will be done on Galbraith's challange.

I agree Galbraith was lucky not to see red, I held my breath on the day as thought he'd be gone for that challange, the difference was though, the ref saw that challange and deemed it a yellow on the day.

There are two major differences between the incidents:

The first is that the referee saw the Galbraith challenge and as you said deemed it only worthy of a yellow, some might argue that it could have been a red but I disagree for the reason mentioned below - the FA can only cite players if the referee missed the incident. And the reason for that is down to the second difference

Intent. Galbraith went for the ball after a poor first touch but crucially his foot (and most importantly his studs) were pulled away from O'Brien at the point where they made contact. On the other hand McClean's incident there was clear intent, the motion of his foot was incredibly unnatural, there was no ball to be played anywhere nearby and it was done either with an aim to injure Ronald or rile him up to bait him into doing something stupid and getting himself sent off.

McClean intended for his foot to make contact with Ronald's head and with it being caught so blatantly on camera he had absolutely no chance of defending himself against it.

O'Brien's shoulder injury is unfortunate especially as it happened when he went over trying to avoid more severe contact with Galbraith's foot, however that doesn't mean that Galbraith's challenge was dangerous play. It was merely an unfortunate coincidence

Absolutely agree. I would take it a step further and make it the next game they play. The disadvantage of a ban is lost when they can start with a replacement.

I wouldn't make it the next game they play as the team they played against where the incident happened never got any benefit from it

I suspect that Jaxs will continue to support his right not to wear a poppy but will not support his thuggery.
That would be a level headed stance.

Holy crap - we can justify anything on here. Trust me - if that had been an assault by a gog on a Swans player we would have been baying for red - and debating for days how the ref is a shit house for showing a yellow

Or maybe some level of points deduction?

Swanjaxs conspicuous by his absence on this thread, after previously being so vocal in support of McClean.
Listen up chum, I'm in work, on my break now and seen it. He's admitted his wrongdoing and taken his punishment. One thing you'll never level at me is being "conspicuous by my absence" unlike you at the start of this thread when Neath_Jack called you out...

Lads I've been flat out in work this past month, honestly if I haven't been working I've been sleeping. This is the first I've seen of the ban. James Mclean should have been given an extra game ban for being so stupid. Saying that, if Roland stayed on his feet more often opposition players wouldn't want to boot him so regularly...
