Is this lad coming in as an 8 (I.e o brien replacement) or a 10?

I'd like to see him alongside Franco, with eom in the 10 and a new winger.

I think eom wil thrive next season, particularly in that position

If he gets played there (Eom)

His natural position is meant to be a number 10

My assumption was that LOB filled the gap while we were waiting. Or was LOB agreed post Gnome as an emergency filler at deep lying centre back? I don't think we'll get LOB back anyway. I'm still betting Leicester.

Played mainly as a central midfielder but can cover all other midfield positions as well as right and left wing.

That's how I saw it. More of a LOB position and he was brought in as gap stop. Money talks and Leicester or one of those will get him. If anything has come out of this, it's reminded the club we need a player like this and not a Grimes.

Think it's also highlighted that we could actually play 2 full tempo midfielders rather than a no 10.
If we do go this way then a holding midfielder in the mould of Ferries would be unreal.
The formation change(slightly) has opened my eyes up more but has also highlighted the need of more quality/goals from the wide areas.

100% agree.

At some point we would have had to move on from Grimes and his way of playing (or at least his role in our team, which was consistent under a few managers), and although it would be painful (as it was in the initial game/s), then LOB comes in on big money and shows what is possible. The change of manager and formation all coming at a similar time is probably for the best, even though I thought it was a risk selling our Captain in the Jan window.

We need dynamism and power in midfield, and not someone who will drop back into defence and slow things down on every move. We got caught out way too often and offered very little going forward.
