Melker Widell

Being willing to accept the same amount we paid, is not consigning a player to the unwanted pile. I do not understand the sensitivity and why people go over the top on any post on here that is not just happy clappy every player is perfect and will become amazing propaganda. I would not loan him out or accept a low fee for him.

"If we can get our money back, it would not be the worst thing" is a fairly benign opinion being treated as heresy or wanting to release half our team.
Even amongst the non “happy clapper” lot you’d find it hard to have people agree with you that Widell and Franco are not up to scratch

I do not think he has bags of ability and do not think he has shown that. He seems like an average Championship midfielder, who works hard. Not a problem to have in the squad but not a player you need to desperately hold on to.

Not much difference to Ronald or Eom. It would be interesting to see how many people want to sell them this summer. Maybe I am in the minority but I would keep Ronald as we do not have depth in his position.
He's 7 months in to his career with us in a new country and league. Patience obviously isn't one of your strengths.

I'm out, this conversation is pointless.

What is Widdy boy being asked to do by the manager? Obviously I don’t know whether he’s following orders but he’s a terrier, breaking play up and getting the ball moving. Same as Franco. Now should we have two player like that in midfield, probably not and when we get a decent RB and Galbraith is moved into his proper position I do t suppose we will play with the two terriers.
Teams do struggle against the two terriers combo though! And it’s a real crowd pleaser when they both get stuck in. I love to see it!

'not up to scratch' is a term you have used, not me.

Even if he was just a squad player, which I don’t think he is btw. Why would you be so desperate to sell him? We need 25 men in a squad and he’s more than good enough to be there. We can’t just have 25 star players

Pointless, Flash 🤷🏻

So Stamenic, Galbraith, Walta and Franco continue to get more minutes than him and we can invest in another who is more of a difference maker as the non-Walta midfielders can do enough of the grunt work.

Presence of Fulton needs to be acknowledged too, who factors into this equation and when playing will leave one less space for Melker.

I do not think it is controversial to suggest he is expendable for the right fee. I do not currently see many people arguing for him to be starting games ahead of Stamenic, Galbraith, Franco, Yalcouye or Walta.

What has Walta done that you’re so happy about. That’s weird.

Yeah but we suffer with lack of creativity then, which is happening now imo.

My three central midfielders at the moment would be Stamenic, Melker and Galbraith.

If we had bundles of creativity on left on the bench when they play I would agree with you. But I think we get more chances with that combo purely because we get a lot of turnovers in the oppositions final third

Nothing yet really?

But he is an even more recent signing so I would like us to start him between now and the end of the season to help him adapt and to figure out how important signing more creativity in the midfield is. We all hope he is the answer, so now let us hope he shows it.

Nah he hasn’t shown anything of worth yet. Useless get rid :ROFLMAO:

I'm not going to make any judgement on Widdell until the end of the season at the earliest and more likely not until a couple of months into next season given the Vipotnik experience.

However, classic example of a few posters jumping down the throat of someone for the seemingly reasonable suggestion that Widdell may not turn out to be a great signing.

Do you honestly think it's reasonable to question a players ability after 7 months?

Expand on this, because I can see a discussion about a player. Anything in particular you see as jumping down a throat?
