Michael Obafemi - Downfall

Liked a McDonald's down here but was down to sleep apnea apparently 🤣

Jokes aside, it's a really sad state. He had 6 months or so down here and he was outstanding.
If it wasn't for his hissy fits and storming off down the tunnel, he could of been special. As you said there was a time when he and Piroe was on fire. Only fire he sees now is a BBQ. Eating too many burgers 😅

Very sad to be honest, him and Piroe up front were a class act for us. The grass isn't always greener on the other side.

He’s earned a fortune for being a fantastic player - in his head.

In a less ridiculous football world, just a lower league journeyman with far less talent than ego. File under dickhead. I will accept Martin didn’t help his cause with his own ego driven f**kwittery, but Obapastie’s failure and demise is rooted in himself.

“You can fool all the people some of the time, and some of the people all the time, but you cannot fool all the people all the time.”
For me, he was always a limited player who mainly offered pace. Talent, however, is only a small part of a player’s career, the rest is character (and a bit of luck) - and so far he’s shown that this is where he falls short.

Agree with this. A wrong attitude doesn't help at all.

Massive ego & some delusions of grandeur made him think he was way better than he actually was.
Anyone can believe in themselves and I don't knock someone for having justified confidence in themselves, but I bet he also had a team of people around him feed into that, instead of trying to keep him in check.

Was that team around him Burger King ?

I remember watching him warming up at Hull and could see the attitude was all wrong, was totally disinterested and his shooting in that warm was woeful (the worst I have ever seen) and he didn't care.

You could see there and then what would happen, just was never going to apply himself correctly.
