• Thank you very much | Diolch yn fawr

All at JackArmy.net would like to thank everyone who has played a part on this site over the past 25 years whether that is through writing, contributing, moderating, posting or just visting and reading.

Without any of you the work that has gone into the site would have been pointless and we will always be proud that we built, generated and managed a community that was such a big part of the Swansea City supporting life for so long.

It has been a pleasure to bring to you the site for so long but the time is now right to turn the lights out for the last time but we do it both with a heavy heart and a sense of pride driven by the so many messages received since we announced the closure.

The site will remain here for a period until we archive and mothball it for the last time later this summer but all aspects are in a read only format.

Thank you though for all the memories

MPPU Increasing In October

MPPU doesn’t apply in pubs. They already sell well above the minimum.
That was not the point I was making, the point was how can the same people bring in the MPPU, to discourage people from drinking, and then their leader, goes and makes a statement saying don’t watch Netflix and stay in, go to the pub instead. 🤣

I moved from Swansea so I could easily nip over the border to buy booze cheaper. It was the only sensible choice. Aldi Bradley Stoke is the new Calais.
No doubt, when this new increase comes in October, it’s certainly going to push a good few over the border, I think if you’re a Stella or cider drinker, could be looking at nearly double the price.. hmm eleven quid in Asda Bristol, or 24 in Asda Swansea.

You’ll spend more than that in fuel mun 🤣

Knock it on the head.

Google Ai reckons fuel costs to Bristol and back about 25-30 quid, obviously you would need a good few cases to make it worthwhile, but the savings after that will cover the fuel easily. Although there may be another option, I have noticed Amazon will deliver alcohol with no mppu.

I'd love to knock it on the head. It's such a stress-buster on the weekend though, for me, and something I look forward to through the week - plus a nice bit of food or a takeaway. I know that's not great, but once you're in that cycle it's difficult to get out of. I exercise regularly and generally look after myself, but I do look forward to opening that bottle of wine on a Saturday afternoon/evening.

I’ve no doubt knocking it on the head is easier said than done. I’ve not touched alcohol now since December 2020, it wasn’t a conscious decision, it just sort of happened. Just wish I done it 20 years sooner.
