• Thank you very much | Diolch yn fawr

All at JackArmy.net would like to thank everyone who has played a part on this site over the past 25 years whether that is through writing, contributing, moderating, posting or just visting and reading.

Without any of you the work that has gone into the site would have been pointless and we will always be proud that we built, generated and managed a community that was such a big part of the Swansea City supporting life for so long.

It has been a pleasure to bring to you the site for so long but the time is now right to turn the lights out for the last time but we do it both with a heavy heart and a sense of pride driven by the so many messages received since we announced the closure.

The site will remain here for a period until we archive and mothball it for the last time later this summer but all aspects are in a read only format.

Thank you though for all the memories

Tamping is an understatement to describe my feeling towards this, so in October we are going up in Wales to 65p a unit.

The funny thing is, if you read the article, some absolute idiot working for the Welsh Government even says this

Minister for Mental Health and Wellbeing Sarah Murphy said: "Cheap, high-strength alcohol disproportionately affects hazardous and harmful drinkers. The evidence is clear – minimum unit pricing works.

Boils my piss, this is what fucks me off, they brought this in, about super strength lager and cider, the likes of Frosty Jacks, but this absolute idiot tries to justify it, by charging from October, 13 quid plus for the likes of Carling gnats piss, yet England will be paying 8 or 9, and all the profits go to the retailer. what an absolute great idea,

It would not be so repugnant if the money went to alcohol treatment/awareness work, but instead straight into the profits of supermarkets.

Only hope is that Labour lose the Senedd in April, and Plaid Cymru do not get into power.

Labour = Plaid Cymru.

Plaid Cymru = Labour.

The thing is, I understand where they are coming from, but it just feels like we have been lied to, when the MPPU was originally introduced in Wales a few years ago, it was about high strength beer and cider, the likes of Frosty Jacks in Iceland cider 9.5% that would knock your socks off, but here we are come October, we are going to end up paying 13 quid for basically not strong lager. What's wrong with just increasing the MPPU to all drinks over 5,5%, which maybe could be classified as slightly strong, not Carling or Fosters FFS.

There are always deals and offers on, you just need to look around. I bought a box of 12 Corona 330ml today for less than a Pound a bottle. Also picked up some lovely Brumale Montepulciano for £10; got enough to last until the next decent offer comes around.

There are no deals mate for us in Wales, like you say, you bought some Corana for less than a quid a bottle, off the top of my head, I'm sure they can sell Corana for 18 bottles at £13.22, whilst conforming with the MPPU.

The supermarkets manipulate the prices in Wales, they really do.. Madri might be 14 quid, next minute it's 10 or eleven quid,

I'll drink to that!

I’m not against the idea of some intervention here.

But as ever it’s implementation that’s the major issue with unintended consequences.

It’s a familiar pattern with Welsh gov and it’s got to stop.

I just hope with the long overdue demise of Welsh Labour. legislation even if I don’t agree with it is thought through and delivered effectively.

People who want to buy booze will buy booze whatever the price. It just makes people poorer.

My usual and predictable reply - good, ban it altogether. Less women getting filled in, fewer people dying from being assaulted, or being involved in vehicle accidents, less people being chronically ill. What’s not to like?

I hate to break it to you but supermarkets "manipulate" the price of everything. Depends what they want to sell...

Nothing to do with a good rant about the welsh government who - for the avoidance of doubt - I am not sticking up for because frankly, every political party will do what is best for those elected and nobody else

Well it’s not really a rant about the Welsh Government, it’s just the fact that this increase in mppu, has been brought in on the premise of a lie,

Just look what the Welsh Minister for health and wellbeing says about it, as I quoted earlier, she’s talking about super strength lager and cider, where the outcome of their deeds is going to increase Carling Black Label in Wales to more than 5 quid for a box of ten, than they are paying in England, now unless I am being silly here, surely Carling Black Label is not super strength?

Telling porkies are the only things Welsh Labour are any good at these days.
