It’s quite disturbing to see how formerly sensible centrists/centre right type people have become radicalised (no other word for it) by a few frothing racists on twitter. It’s far more naive to think that the PM (or someone representing him) had a quiet word with whoever does schedule them (it’ll be the relevant court by the way) and said “look lads, Trump is being sworn in on 20 January so if you could schedule those trials for two massive and heinous crimes for the same day so no one will notice that’d be great”. I mean. Come on. As if that would actually happen and as if Trump is going to take literally all the attention away from two of the biggest trials this country will see all year. Also of course, these trials will last for weeks and will dominate the news cycle for as long as they’re happening. Trump’s inauguration will last for a few hours.
