If you like people who malign Starmer and Jess Phillips as rape apologists, when the reality is there are very few people in Parliament who have done more to get victims justice, then yes, you are a reprehensible person.
It’s not about “aligning” though is it.
That’s picking football teams. I can respect Elon Musk as an incredible entrepreneur, an absolute genius in that field.
I can also think his business interests can be destructive at the same time. Which is something I’m more sympathetic to.
I can think Jeremy Corbyn is wrong on pretty much everything but I can respect the man has his viewpoints.
Personally just like in another thread more on immigration, I think you can challenge people and debate without just saying they’re a bloody awful person for following a particular viewpoint.
This is why Trump and populism wins. People are not willing to listen to the other side and that creates silos and people go down rabbit holes as result.
My word I’ve been guilty of this in the past. I am not innocent in the slightest, but I’m trying to be better.
If you think immigration is wonderful and have swallowed that line then you’re falling into the same trap. It just isn’t in totality but yes it has positive impacts. Does it have negative impacts? 110%. That’s one issue.
We need to start respecting another point of view. It doesn’t make someone evil. Brexit frustrates me because I’d love to understand why that has any benefits but I get the anger of why people used that vote for “change” but I think it was probably the most misdirected attempt in modern history.
If someone *directly* agrees with something that is overwhelmingly offensive then that’s different but still should be challenged imo. Populism is running rife precisely because of this type of discourse.
That’s my thoughts anyway feel free to call me a cunt if you like.
